Breaking the Ice

(States of Love 23: Wisconsin)
by

Tali Spencer

For Matt Wasko, February in Wisconsin is the best time of the year, and ice fishing on Lake Winnebago is his idea of heaven. With shanty villages cropping up, barbeques on the ice, monster sturgeon to spear, and plenty of booze to keep everybody warm, things couldn’t be better—until a surprise storm hits and an uninvited guest shows up at his frozen doorstep.

Matt’s not happy to see John Lutz, a coworker who cracks lame gay jokes at Matt’s expense. But John’s flimsy new ice shelter got blown across the lake, and it wouldn’t be right to leave even a jerk outside to freeze. Would it?

In the close quarters of Matt’s fabulous ice shanty, between stripping off wet clothes, misadventures with bait, and a fighting trophy-sized walleye, the two men discover creative ways to keep the cold at bay. And when John confesses his long-running attraction, Matt must decide if he can believe in John’s change of heart—and crack the ice for a chance at finding love.

Victory Portrait

(Pride of Uttor 04)

Imperial captive and former Sebboyan prince Peta Kordeun has one great wish: to meet Darius Arrento, conqueror of his country and a man he has idolized since childhood. That wish comes true the day the Uttoran emperor assigns Peta to assist the artist who will be painting the great general’s official portrait.

General Darius Arrento would rather take a crossbow bolt through his flesh than sit for a portrait, until his friend the emperor forces his hand. The notorious artist, Brazzi, uses semen and other sexual fluids to bind his colors—and Arrento is captivated by the artist’s pretty helper. Before long he is driven to possess the gorgeous young man who draws battle maps and whose naïve charm has won more hearts in Uttor than Arrento has won battles.

When Arrento learns that Peta, the slave he covets and wants for his own, is one of the despised Kordeun princes, he storms from Uttor toward a far corner of the empire—where he quickly finds himself embroiled in a plot to tear Uttor’s empire apart. His emotions and loyalties frayed, the great Arrento is in the battle of his life…and Peta may hold the key to his survival.

Blurb: Beltran is a peaceful man, but when his Bolivian cousin is brutalized, he seeks out a native sorcerer in a quest for vengeance. Review: A tale that takes you in a mix of myth and fiction The Seventh Sacrifice follows Beltran’s attempt to revenge his cousin. Seeking a charm from a shaman Beltran never really believes that it will work. But the shaman, Katari, bewitches him in ways he doesn’t understand. Katari’s beauty is undeniable, but even more so are the dark eyes that compel Beltran to surrender.

For centuries enslaved by the ancient spell, the time has finally arrived for Katari to perform his part of the sacrifice that will break the old spell. Last of his brothers, the seventh sacrifice is going to release their mother and give them all their full powers and true for, the amaru. Katari could have very well used a less suitable sacrifice years before, but he waited for the perfect one to come, and Beltran is that one.

So much magic, dark one at that, serpent gods, old myths woven around a very creative idea. The eroticism that goes hand in hand with the spell, sacrifices and blood, this story is a well of sensuality thick with passionate hunger and power that consumes the human mind.
I liked it. I found it enthralling and exotic. A part of me wanted Katari to succeed, another dreaded that success, and I was right to believe that it would be a bloody one when the time would come.

As for the pair itself, while the chemistry between them was heavy and had me charmed, it somehow faltered at the final scene of the claiming. It was hot, very much so, but still I found it a bit bland at the very end.

Nevertheless, this story is quite worth it and I definitely recommend it to those who love Inkas’ mythology and godlike characters.

Blurb: After Vorgell the barbarian fucks himself with a unicorn horn, he ends up in a cell with Maddog, a pretty young thief. It’s lust at first sight for Vorgell—but honestly, he can’t help it. Unicorn horn is a potent aphrodisiac, and now he can’t stop thinking about sex. Luckily, Madd is one male witch who knows how to put Vorgell’s new magical body to good use when he tricks Vorgell into a kiss that helps them escape.

Vorgell may desire sex in general—and Madd in particular—but Madd has no intention of being screwed by a man twice his size. He has problems of his own, including an enchanted collar that causes him to desire his most hated enemy. He wants that collar off as soon as possible, but that requires stealing a basilisk egg from the castle they just escaped.

Drawn together by lust and magic, the two men join forces and soon find themselves up to their necks in witches, wizards, and trouble. Vorgell and Madd might just be perfect for each other, but first they have to survive long enough to find out.

Review: Vorgell the barbarian finds himself locked up in a cell with a thief/witch after unwittingly using a unicorn horn to pleasure himself, now he is horny as hell and thinks that the little thief can give him a helping hand. Madd has been enslaved by a baron and wants nothing more than to escape, when the huge barbarian is tossed in his cell he takes advantage of his innocent confession and snatches a kiss that helps them escape. Now on the run but with their own problems, Vorgell wants sex and Madd wants the enchanted collar off, they join together to re-enter the castle they just escaped to steal a basilisk egg. Together they find themselves dealing with witches, wizards, thieves, and trouble.

This is a great fantasy story that has a horny as hell barbarian and a disgruntled witch. Vorgell gets himself into a huge jam when he mistakenly kills a unicorn, eats the berries made from its blood, becomes horny, and pleasures himself with the unicorn’s horn. Unknown to Vorgell a unicorn isn’t just magical it is also a potent aphrodisiac and now he wants constant sex…. there are doubts if even a tree knot would be safe. Madd has fallen foul of a local baron and he wears an enchanted collar that makes him want the loathsome man, escaping with a barbarian who is full of magic is his only chance of freedom. But, to be free forever he needs the basilisk’s egg used to create the enchanted collar. Madd and Vorgell come to an agreement Vorgell will help Madd get into the castle with his magical fluids and Madd will sexually please Vorgell when he needs magic.

This has got to be one of the maddest books I have ever read, inadvertently infusing yourself with a potent aphrodisiac, and being constantly horny…. Poor Vorgell. Vorgell is a wonderful barbarian who develops feelings for the ornery Madd, Madd is a male witch who has been mistreated in the past, but it only takes one horny barbarian to crack his shell. Together they face danger and horrors as they try to free Madd from his collar, because the baron has powerful allies in the Wizards Guild. They also have to keep secret about Vorgell’s hidden magic or he will find himself in his own plight, as he would become a delicacy for the Wizards to eat, and then there are the witches who would use him for their own needs as well.

Both the characters and storyline are brilliant, the world building is wonderful and makes us see everything that Madd has been through because of circumstance, Vorgell’s personal story is interesting as well, and I think they are perfect together. Madd still has a long way to go before he will admit any tender feelings for the barbarian and Vorgell quickly develops feelings for the witch, it isn’t easy for them though and you would more likely say they have a partnership rather than a real relationship. The storyline pulls you in well and leads you into a world that fascinates. Witches, wizards, fiends and a culture where male witches are looked down on are just some of the things that I adored, but nothing could tear me away from the development of both Madd and Vorgell as they progressed through the book, the way that they both seemed to grow the longer we knew them and how they both trusted in the other because of their actions. I really hope we haven’t seen the last of this world because Vorgell and Madd are characters I would love to see again.

I recommend this to those that love fantasy, who want an adventure, who wants to explore magic, who isn’t afraid of danger, hot sex and a horny barbarian, great characters and a happy ending.
