Cameron Danu is a tattoo artist from rural Georgia. Cameron is left without a job after his boss, José, is forced to close the shop after a heart attack. When Cameron learns José has set up an interview for him at a small tattoo parlor in Asheville, he hopes for a fresh start in a new town.

Fate brings Cameron and Liam together, and they realize they’ve met before—in their dreams. A chance encounter and a winged tattoo might lead them to their destiny—if fear doesn’t turn their dreams into a nightmare.

Review: Interesting story about Liam, a dream walker, who has been dreaming of and falling for the same man, Cameron, for many years. Eventually they meet but things are not as good as Liam would like.

Fifteen years is a long time to be dreaming of someone you never met before but that’s what happens in this story. The intimate scenes in the dreams were hot and sexy. I liked that when they finally met it was not instant love. They had to fight to be together as most couples do to make things work.

Cameron freaks out upon learning about Liam’s abilities and that hinders them getting to know one another. Liam’s aunt I’m unsure how to feel about as it seemed to me like she treated Liam like a child who could not make decisions for himself and I hated that. But at the same time she does help him when he needs it.

All in all it was a good read.

Review: I have no idea what to write in this review. I’m emotionally drained from all the ups (which were few) to the downs. I loved Bren. He was kind, sweet and determined to help Ky despite Ky being what I consider aloof a lot.

I realize that both characters have been through traumatic events. One even going through physical abuse and rape most of his life. But the way Ky just seemed to distance himself from Bren but expected him to still be there pissed me off to no end.

As a result of Ky’s actions I ended up not liking him at all. Bren was always there for Ky no matter what. I did feel bad for both but at the same time felt Ky really offered nothing to the relationship expect depression and misery.

It was an o.k. read. Warning Emotional, physical, mental abuse as well as rape (which was off page but you still know).

Blurb: Violence has been Lochlann O’Connor’s companion since he was born into a family of old-school Irish terrorists. From there he is recruited into Alpha, a secret government agency dedicated to fighting terrorism—with extreme prejudice. Lochlann’s bravery, efficiency, ruthlessness, and the natural deadeye aim that lets him hit anything that moves, quickly make him one of the shadowy organization’s most valued operatives.

Cas Vega joins Alpha because it’s marginally better than a prison sentence. He’s a former drug cartel assassin—or at least that’s his story. But Lochlann is suspicious. Despite an irrational and overwhelming attraction to Cas, Lochlann has questions, and they soon lead to a deeper and deadlier mystery. What is Alpha’s true purpose, and why does it seem they want to eliminate Lochlann?

Lochlann and Cas must work together to get to the bottom of Alpha’s scheme and escape it—and all while Cas keeps secrets that could cost him his life if they’re revealed. But it’s not an alliance that can last. Duty turns the men into enemies, even while fate compels them into each other’s arms. Before they can contemplate which will prevail, they must figure out how to survive.

Review: I loved this addition to the series however it was slightly different as Lochlann’s character never acknowledged the rage until the end which is different from the other books. This book focused on the present and glanced over the past. Lochlann is in a secret group called Alpha. He believes he on the good side.

Things become strange when he starts having doubts about the group. New recruits are brought in and Lochlann finds himself attracted to one named Cas. Cas was in with the drug cartel. But there is much more to this man that most see. Danger is all around and one misstep could mean both their lives when they decide to work together.

Mysterious, tense and at times has a menacing air about the story. I loved how the story was told and flowed. It felt as though I was actually there witnessing what was taking place. Both characters had secrets that were eventually revealed that added an element of mystery that I wanted to solve.

However, I feel as though the story is incomplete. The questions about who is Alpha remained unanswered as well as who is “cleaning up” afterwards. I felt disappointed in this regard but overall it was a great read.

Laurent and the Beast

(Kings of Hell MC 01)

K.A. Merikan

Nothing can stop true love. Not time. Not even the devil himself.

1805. Laurent. Indentured servant. Desperate to escape a life that is falling apart.

2017. Beast. Kings of Hell Motorcycle Club vice president. His fists do the talking.

Beast has been disfigured in a fire, but he’s covered his skin with tattoos to make sure no one mistakes his scars for weakness. The accident not only hurt his body, but damaged his soul and self-esteem, so he’s wrapped himself in a tight cocoon of violence and mayhem where no one can reach him.

Until one night, when he finds a young man covered in blood in their clubhouse. Sweet, innocent, and as beautiful as an angel fallen from heaven, Laurent pulls on all of Beast’s heartstrings. Laurent is so lost in the world around him, and is such a tangled mystery, that Beast can’t help but let the man claw his way into the stone that is Beast’s heart.

In 1805, Laurent has no family, no means, and his eyesight is failing. To escape a life of poverty, he uses his beauty, but that only backfires and leads him to a catastrophe that changes his life forever. He takes one step into the abyss and is transported to the future, ready to fight for a life worth living.

What he doesn’t expect in his way is a brutal, gruff wall of tattooed muscle with a tender side that only Laurent is allowed to touch. And yet, if Laurent ever wants to earn his freedom, he might have to tear out the heart of the very man who took care of him when it mattered most.

Review: This was a sweet story. Byron’s gentleness and understanding toward Kit just made me melt. He was sincere in everything he did.

Kit was quiet and trying to live his life after the death of his family. Beginning to live again he never thought he had a mate who cared as much as Byron did. I loved the interactions between these two. They were so made for one another it made my heart melt.

Great read.

Review: Secrets in a relationship can possibly be the end of it. Vinnie starts questioning his with Ethan because of a friend. A phone call to Ethan reveals family problems so the couple immediately head to Georgia.

Vinnie finds out that Ethan’s family has no idea Ethan is gay so he is forced to act like and be something he is not, which puts strain on their relationship. I don’t really understand why Ethan took so long to admit to his family who Vinnie really was.

I admired the dedication and lengths that Vinnie went to in order to be with Ethan around his family. It was admirable. Ethan’s family dynamics was weird to say the least. Never the less I was glad to finally get to read about Ethan’s family.

Great read.

Review: Hellrick, the son of Justice and Romeo doesn’t seem to take anything seriously. His only concern seems to be the next conquest. He loves seducing the bodyguards sent to protect him. He does not think he needs them and is tired of feeling like a prisoner.

His new bodyguard Sin is determined to keep Hel safe. When assassin’s and a storm threaten Sin springs into action. I loved this story but I was surprised by Hellrick. He did not seem like the other MC’s. But still I loved him.

Fast paced, action packed, intense, and a great addition to the series.

I highly recommend it to all.

Blurb: Hollywood comes to Roanoke when a major film studio announces they’re shooting part of their Civil War film at a local plantation. Vinnie is dismayed to discover the lead actress is none other than the beautiful Caroline St. Clair. Ethan and Vinnie met her in LA the previous Halloween, and Vinnie still hates her for hitting on his man. But Fate has it in for Vinnie and Ethan, and they’re assigned to a new case involving the actress. Vinnie has no choice—he has to play nice. It’s small consolation that his new undercover identity involves Hollywood heartthrob Troy McGarrett, who is very handsome and openly gay. Troy also isn’t shy about letting Vinnie know he finds him attractive.

Jealousy abounds, and time is not on Vinnie and Ethan’s side. If they don’t solve the case before the film shoot is done, there’s a good chance they’ll be separated for the first time since they were partnered. Assuming Vinnie doesn’t kill Caroline St. Clair himself.

Review: Ethan and Vinnie are back in this installment of Rise and Thorne. These two are still going strong after five years and like most couples it has its ups and downs. Ethan tells Vinnie about a filming of a civil war movie being planned in their town and who the actress is starring in it. Vinnie cannot stand Caroline St. Clair as he is sure she wants Ethan.

Ethan and Vinnie get a call from their boss for a new assignment. Unfortunately for Vinnie the assignment involves protecting Caroline St. Clair, the last person he wants to be around. What starts out as a protection detail quickly devolves into divide and conquer, then have Vinnie off the case.

An enjoyable read with several twists that are entertaining and keep the reader interested. I found I did not care for Caroline. She seemed superficial in her plans to get her ex back by using Ethan and causing trouble between Vinnie and Ethan.

Great read.

Blurb: When his boyfriend of two years kicks him out because he just can’t get pregnant, Adrian is heartbroken. Coming from a broken home, all he’s ever wanted was to start a family of his own. But now it’s starting to look like that’s never going to happen. Worse yet, he has to move in with his brother to keep from living on the street, and the prevalent bias against men with the ability to carry children keeps him from finding a job of his own.

He’s about ready to give up hope when he finds a job offer in the newspaper searching for someone to produce an heir for a rich dragon shifter. Having a baby with a stranger, even if he’s enigmatic and hot as hell, is not Adrian’s definition of happiness, but he figures he’s got nothing left to lose.

Dragon shifter Tyrel has no interest in mating, but if he doesn’t become a parent by the age he’s thirty, his family’s considerable wealth will fall to his brother. To prevent that from happening, he plays along when his mother invites several omegas to their mansion for him to pick a partner, even though he believes all humans to be fools. His opinion on this only changes when he meets Adrian and he hears fate whisper in his ear.

But Adrian has trouble conceiving, and even when he does, carrying a dragon’s child comes with its own set of complications.

If you like omegas and dragons, fated lovers and men who become pregnant and live happily ever after, add this romance novel to your library!

Review: Adrian answers an ad at his brother’s insistence, for someone who is willing to carry a dragons offspring. Upon meeting the man who is looking he is smitten. But at the same time he is cautious when said dragon tries to use his power on him.

Tyrel thinks all humans are easy and below him until he meets Adrian. He is intrigued by the one man who he cannot control. But his mother is not happy about his pick.

I liked the fact that Adrian was not easily cowed by Tyrel and gave him a run for his money. I thought it was cute when Adrian got jealous at Tyrel going out with the other candidates. The details of the island were awesome. I loved reading about the island.

Great read.

Review: A story about two boys who were torn apart but later reunite. Standing in the way is a power-hungry homophobic Alpha who believes all same sex pairs should be eradicated. I found Falco to be quite determined. He seemed to know when to go with the flow and when to stand his ground. Which was good considering his Alpha was his uncle and would not think too kindly on him when he finds out Falco is gay.

I simply adored Carter. He is a half wolf and smells Falco as his mate. Though the two grow closer they have to be careful but like with many stories, it would not be good without a secret getting out and causing tough decisions to be made.

Absolutely fantastic read that leads the reader into the lives of two men who are meant to be together but have obstacles to overcome and danger to live through before they can find their happy ever after.

Highly recommended.

Review: Nick is a numbers guy. Always has been. That makes him come off as a bit calculated at times. In this story he meets older guy Wes. Laid back, successful and pretty a good guy. The sparks flew between these two from the start. I thought they were a good mix together and meshed well.

The chemistry was great. I loved how Wes figured Nick out and began to reel him in so to speak without spooking him. I understood how Nick thought but also realized that sometimes numbers aren’t everything and you have to take a chance when the opportunity presents itself.

Wes was awesome. I completely fell for him. He was so smart, patient and understanding to a degree. I was cheering both of these characters on the further I read.

Really good read.

Zane was raised to see the evil that was in the world. With monsters surrounding their village on all sides, it seemed very simple what the evil was. Until Zane meets Tancred and starts to question everything that being a villager stands for.

Tancred knew from the first moment they met that Zane was his other half. Learning that the man was the kin of the humans that destroyed his family caused him to run. Will Tancred learn there is more to Zane than his last name? Or will he lose the man that is the other half of his soul?

Review: Zane is to follow in his father’s footsteps as the leader of their village. He’s heard the stories of monsters throughout his life and how his family was the ones to take them out then a truce is called.

Now eighteen Zane meets Tancred and feels a connection. Tancred has no love for humans as they killed his family. The Tradition is interesting as when a demon finds his other half he can be hurt by hurting the other half. I found it intriguing that Tancred and Zane were mates. However the exact species of certain individuals was a little vague. For instance it states that Tancred was an elemental and produces electricity and that’s it.

But, due to Tancred’s anger he refuses Zane for five years until Zane’s father figures out the bond between them.

I like the story and am looking forward to Lucifer’s story with his mate.

Review: Merlin pulls Alex from his world to help Camelot. Upon waking, Alex is confronted by Mordred, a beautiful man newly a knight. Mordred is King Arthur’s son and a prince yet he is snubbed by others and treated poorly.

Alex sets about making changes to strengthen Camelot and cut out the wrongness that has been going on. The changes are for the good of Camelot and the future. I liked the things he changed as they made perfect sense.

Though I liked the story I was honestly expecting something else.

Review: Nick was outed in school trying to protect Sandy, a boy who had a crush on him, amid harsh words and anger that Nick has regretted ever since, Nick moves on with his solitary life. While checking out the opening of the new Bass Pro Shop he runs into Sandy of all people.

Sandy was hurt deeply by Nick as a result he leaves town as fast as he can. Years later he returns to attend the grand opening of Pro Bass Shop and runs into Nick. Feelings he buried years before come rushing back. But not wanting to be hurt again he guards his heart. When the power goes out and the men are trapped in an elevator together will apologies be accepted or will they go their separate ways?

I loved this sweet read. It tugs at the heartstrings as you feel for both of these men. I was cheering them on to resolve their differences and see they were meant to be together. A delightful read with plenty of emotional and tender scenes.

Unfortunately, this is precisely where the vampires came from. If allowed, they would feed unchecked and spread their undeath across the whole Earth, but Radu maintains a shaky control over them and keeps them penned in his tiny corner of the country.

As Frank recovers from his assault, Radu finds himself falling for the young man. But loving Frank and not wanting to lose him leaves Radu vulnerable to his demons’ demands. Can he bear to let them feed on the man he loves? Or must he give in to their blackmail and set them free to feast on his entire country?

Review: This is not going to be an easy review as the story is two parts with separate characters for each. To say it was an easy flowing read would be a lie. While I enjoyed reading about Frank and Radu I felt no connection to them. Nor was their story complete before we are dropped into another half of the book.

I have never been so totally thrown off a book before. I’m honestly dreading reading the next in the series.

I honestly felt confused when I finished and had trouble separating details of the stories in the book. As a result I have a headache. I am sincerely hoping that things go better in the second book and we get some clarity as to where things are headed.

If not I may have to give the series to someone else to review. It was an o.k. read.
