Blurb: The only thing in Colin Mulligan’s life that makes sense is taking cars apart and putting them back together. In the auto shop where he works with his father and brothers, he tries to get through the day without having a panic attack or flying into a rage. Drinking helps. So does running and lifting weights until he can hardly stand. But none of it can change the fact that he’s gay, a secret he has kept from everyone.

Rafael Guerrera has found ways to live with the past he’s ashamed of. He’s dedicated his life to social justice work and to helping youth who, like him, had very little growing up. He has no time for love. Hell, he barely has time for himself. Somehow, everything about miserable, self-destructive Colin cries out to him. But down that path lie the troubles Rafe has worked so hard to leave behind.

And as their relationship intensifies, Rafe and Colin are forced to dredge up secrets that both men would prefer stay buried.

Review: This book coincides with the first book in the series, In the Middle of Somewhere. I do not recommend reading this as a standalone.

I will start as saying that I mostly enjoyed this book, as I enjoyed the first book in the series. I really like Roan Parrish’s way of writing and telling a story. This story is told from the first-person narrative of Colin. As it was written that way it allowed me as a reader to see the emotional changes of Colin as the story goes on.

However, in the start I really did not like Colin. He has allowed his own self-hatred and that of his family turn him into a very unlikeable and bully of a man. It left me really unsure how Rafe, who the sweetest most awesome man, could fall in love and actively pursue a relationship with Colin.

Reading things from Colin’s part of view honestly made me a little depressed for him. His world is full of drinking, working, and being around his father and brothers. He punishes himself for being gay himself, and the way he treats his brother Daniel for it, just did not make me like him. Colin is messed up, and as a reader you definitely feel it.

Rafe on the other hand is the exact opposite of Colin. He is sweet and kind, works with LGBT kids, and has a great and loving family. Although he is not perfect either. But he has also faced up to his demons and moved on to make a better life for himself and to help others.

Like the first book, this definitely has angst. A lot of it. There is pain and anger. But there is also the slow building of a man who starts to accept who he is. Colin starts to become a better man. This is not just about Rafe and Colin’s relationship. It also tells how a man, Colin, starts to adjust his thinking about himself and what he thinks others expect of him, about finding himself.

This book gave me a lot of feeling. There is disgust, anger, laughter, and finally happiness.

If you enjoyed the first book in the series, then you will really like this one, also.

by

Victoria Sue

The time of Anubis is at hand. Working together against him, the goddess Sirius and the god Orion have helped mankind prepare by uniting Blaze, Conner, Darric, and Aden to fight the evil in the world. But in the war to come, the werewolves will need more allies, and this will extend beyond werewolf kind.

Marcus, an ex-Marine who’d lost both his legs in a landmine accident, is now Human Liaison Officer for Blaze’s pack. Having lost his lover too when the man couldn’t bear to live with a cripple, the last thing he expected was that he’d fall in love again, let alone with the werewolf Kellan who seemed to be universally hated by the pack.

The Winter Circle is moving, and a psychopathic pastor has abducted Nate, one of the wolves from Hunter’s pack. For once the wolves cannot rescue him — it has to be a human — and now Marcus must save the wolves from their biggest threat: one of their own.

If Marcus succeeds, he will bring in a new era in mankind’s battle against the power of evil, starting with a simple promise and ultimately mending four broken hearts.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

I was thrilled to read more about the Sirius Wolves. This series has intrigued me and drawn me in since the beginning. This book continues that theme for me. I honestly have to be careful how I write this review so I don’t drop any spoilers. Because let me tell you things happened that really shocked me.

What I can say is that Victoria Sue has done it again with this book. The writing was on point except for a few minor editing issues. But even they did not distract from the amazingly web the author created. It really left me guessing until the end.

This book gave a very awesome look into the heads of Marcus and Kellan. Marcus a human injured veteran living within the wolves’ circle of power. The way he is accepted by most of them and respected more by the wolves than most humans give was touching.

However Marcus at times has a hard time accepting and understanding it himself. Marcus may be human, but he shows the wolves something that makes them give him the utmost respect.
Kellan is hated by most of the wolves for his part in things that were beyond his control. But with Marcus and others in the inner circle he finds acceptance and his strength. It was wonderful to see him come into himself and discover his place in the pack.

I really can’t say much more about whom the other two people are in the developing relationship, but I will say I didn’t see it coming at the start. But I am far from disappointed.

This book had so many surprises around every corner and I cannot wait to see where Victoria Sue takes it next. Because let me tell you there are so many more things to discover and explore.

Review: The Hammer books can be read as standalones. However this book picks up right after the ending of The Briar Rose: Blended Family leaves off. I do suggest that book be read first before this one. Otherwise a lot of the characters’ backstory is completely missed.

After the events in Blended Family, Doms Devon and Swan, along with their two subs Peter and Max are starting their lives together. They are all moving in together, and two different couples are learning to merge their relationships. There are ups and downs between all of them as they learn about each other and themselves.

But really this is a Sean Michael Hammer novel… meaning the sex scenes are through the roof and plentiful. So let that be a warning, this is a highly erotic book. There is sex going on in every chapter in many different ways and partners. Really this book is burning hot and very dirty, in the best way of course. At least in my opinion.

There are some conflicts as they learn each other and a bit of drama with some bigots. But overall this book was about four men learning to bond their lives together. They all learn something new about themselves and each other both emotionally and sexually. Things are not perfect, but they all love each other and make it work.

Overall, I fast sexy read. It was nice to read about these four and what happened after they left the Briar Rose.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

This book picks up right around the third book in the series. This time is finally reveals the full story behind Kanael and the pain he has been living with for centuries. He blames himself for the events that have happened in the past. He also is still dealing with the loss of his mate. Finally he knows it time to go and find Kraken and repair their relationship.

Kraken has been living in hell since his mate bond was broken. He has been under the control of the evil dude for a long time. He has been forced to do many things that are completely against everything he believes and his very nature.

These two are definitely stronger together than alone. They balance each other out. Kraken is kind and gentle, while Kanael can be a total firecracker. Kraken also helps Kanael stay balanced and fixed in the human realm. Plus they are pretty damn sexy together.

Overall I enjoyed the book. It was nice to see how Kanael and Kraken’s relationship was before everything went to hell and how they managed to come back together. However there were also a lot of things revealed and going on. At times I would get a little confused or lost at what I was reading. Sometimes it was just a little much.

All in all a decent addition to the series.

His anger management issues are out of control, and his siblings suggest a visit to the Eternal Library to find a cure. The library of the gods is a strange and confounding place, though, one that Dionysus has avoided for centuries, and his certainty that the library hates him is confirmed when a killer strikes during his visit.

Life as the only librarian is blissfully peaceful for Leander, giving him the security and quiet he so desperately needs. Considered a monster as a child, Leander’s memories of his imprisonment in the Labyrinth left deeply carved emotional scars. But when a young woman is murdered in his library, he needs to emerge from his self-imposed seclusion to help find the killer who might still stalk the hallways.

Review: This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone in my opinion. But I would suggest reading the others to know all the characters and their stories.

I must say I fell in love with both Dio and Leander. Both characters are so damaged but together manage to balance each other and make their relationship work. Not that things are easy for either of them.

Dio is the crazy god of wine, ritual madness, and a few other things like orgies. He gives the outside appearance of happy-go-lucky and a little crazy living a rock star life. However he is so much more than that. He grew up bullied and tortured by many of his Olympian siblings and step-mother Hera. This has all lead to him having low self-esteem, extreme cases of rage with blackouts, and a very funny at times thought process.

Leander is the Minotaur. Except all the stories about him are completely wrong. He the exact opposite. He shy, has panic attacks, is afraid to leave his safe haven of the library, and very much body conscious. Also he is a virgin.

Together this two are complete opposites. But they do find a way to make it all work. As they work together to find who killed Dio’s friend in the library they get to know one another. They find that they give each other strength to overcome their individual issues. They also accept each other for who and what they are.

Honestly from start to finish of the story I was enthralled by these two very different men. Plus it didn’t hurt that I loved the supporting characters either. Who wouldn’t love red panda library assistants, mushroom gardeners, fauns, and some other mythical gods and goddess lending a hand? Oh and let’s not forgot some very hot sex between a god and Minotaur.

Overall a very nicely flowing story and a great creative take on mythology. This was a great addition to the series and perhaps my favorite to date.

Review: Deacon Reid has taken on the seriously scary task of raising his young niece Zig. Zig has already been in the foster care system for a little while by the time a judge finally agreed that Deacon can be her legal guardian. See Deacon was not exactly a good boy and has had some run in with the law. Either way he does what he needs to and gets himself and niece away from everything they have known to start over fresh. That fresh start leads them to Half Moon Bay.

Deacon is the best kind of bad boy. He has a heart of gold for those he cares for. And he loves his niece. Deacon was much more than just his first appearance would give people. He is really a good man who had a hard life growing up. He makes the choice to do better for both him and Zig.

I honestly loved his parenting style. The two have them together had me rolling in laughter most of the time. Zig is awesome and a bit of a badass in training… She is also a very important part of the story in her own right. She tends to steal the scenes she is in. But she also brings the two men together in her own little way.

Lang is cautious at first of Deacon and the possibility of getting involved with him. But not really for the reasons one would believe. Lang has been majorly hurt and has not really been able to let another in. But Lang gets drawn into Deacon and Zig’s life and finds a place for himself with them.

OK, sexy bad boy biker and conservative hottie who owns a bookstore. You would maybe think a little cliché. However with Rhys Ford at the wheel there is nothing cliché about it. With the fast paced dialogue and the unique characters she creates this was an absolutely fun and enjoyable read from start to end.

I really just loved this story. Two men and one little girl who find love and make their own family. Oh, and little murder and mystery thrown in for an added bonus and good time. I also have to give Rhys kudos for the Labyrinth movie references. They just gave it a little more adorableness.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

Christian has slowly been withering away for the past four years as he waits for his young mate to come of age. His family has not helped matters in any way as they pressure him to find a nice girl and settle down and take over the pack his father runs. Oh, and they are completely anti-gay and pretty much don’t care what their children really want.

Raleigh has finally turned eighteen and is heading off to play football. He is sad to be leaving his family and pack, but also looking forward to learning new things and meeting new people. He also wants to figure out what is going on with his sex drive. His lack of interest in either girls or boys has him thinking he is asexual. That all changes when he catches Christian’s scent.

But of course not everything goes smoothly for this pair. Old history and hurts are revealed that leave Raleigh reeling. Plus there are some overbearing family members that have their own bones to pick.

I actually enjoyed the mating between these two. The sex was hot and the story was well written and fast paced. There was a good amount of angst but was not too much to overwhelm the story.

Overall a good addition to the series.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order. Also this is a spin-off of the Blaecleah Brothers series and takes place in the same town with characters from that series showing up.

OK, I liked the book for the most part. However one of the characters, Nick, spent a good part of the book pissing me off. The way he blew hot and cold with DB just irked the hell out of me. In my opinion DB should have kick his ass a time or two.

I really felt bad for DB and the angst Nick put him through. Not to say DB was completely blameless because he really was not. I really want to knock some sense into both their heads, a time or two, or three.

On one hand I get that Nick was going through a really rough time. But he was so blind to the pain he was causing DB. It was just… uhg, so annoying. DB was no better in letting Nick get away with it all instead of just speaking the hell up.

Other then all that, the story was kind of cute and with some really sexy moments. But yes I would have enjoyed it a lot more without the characters annoying me so much. For me it just kind of ruined it and made me feel like something was missing throughout.

Niall, Jovan and Luka are a sight to see. Niall was going to be forced into a marriage by his bitch of a mother, but for once he had other ideas. He was going to have a ménage a trios with two sexy men. He was shocked to find the two in lion shifters and what’s more they were his mates. Although he hadn’t known that at the time. Leave it to Jovan and Luka to save the day. Hot damn these three are hot.

Amber always gives one a good story. This was definitely hot and sexy. Too bad it was too short to get more than a taste. I hope Amber expands it and turns it into a story on its own. I would definitely be the first to buy it.

Leigh’s Review: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
I know Amber Kell is the one of the queens of novellas, but this one was really too short for me. I didn’t really have a chance to get involved or learn the charterers as much as I like to.

Although for what was there the writing was good and it was pretty fast paced. I just feel like there could have been so much more that could have been written and done with these three men. It all happened far too quickly for me.

This was cute enough as far as is goes but didn’t give me enough to be completely happy and full.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

This book was surprisingly sweet. Two people who were each other’s first loves connect again after twelve years apart due to a tragedy. I really enjoyed that not everything was perfect for them. It took some hard truths for them to be able to come back together. They are very much different people from who they were before. But, there is enough of their younger selves to still have the connection.

Griffith was very much hurt by what happened in the past. But he was able to move beyond it to a degree a make a life for himself, even if it a lonely one. Stone on the other hand completely reinvented himself. He made himself stronger, and continued to atone for what he sees as letting Griffith down.

I liked that together they were both able to heal and form a new relationship. They didn’t forget, but they were able to move past it all. And together form a stronger bond and love.

I really enjoyed this addition to the series and look forward to more.

Review: What sweet little pick me up this book is. It completely managed to surprise me and intrigue me from the start. From the opening line to the very end I was engrossed in the story.

The characters jump off the pages and are easy to relate to and understand. They are humorous in their interactions as well as their uniqueness. Really there are several main characters it seems. Not just Jake and Petreski, but also Jake’s best friend Don. And let’s not forget the cats. They definitely have their own personalities.

This story was simply a fun read. From Jake learning about himself and his newly discovered abilities, to discovery of the sweet little three-legged kitten, to Jake and Don somehow getting involved in solving murders, Plus there is the slowly developing romance between Jake and Petreski.

There is so much humor throughout this story. I was literally laughing my ass off through much of it. It was fast paced with a good deal of wacky thrown that just made it a pleasure to read.

I am highly looking forward to reading the next book in the Jake and Boo series.

Blurb: Float like a butterfly. Kill like a swallowtail.

Scott knows his boring day is over the second a bloody and scared George Kelvin crashes into his office, claiming people are trying to kill him. He knows he should pass the case over to one of his brothers, but he can’t seem to do it. The strength and resilience of the man mixed with a quirky sense of humor fascinate him. He may be a human in the company of powerful shifters, but he’s just as deadly and well trained as the rest of his brothers.

With devious CIA agents, foreign forces gunning for what George possesses and George’s power-hungry father, who is also Deputy Director of the FBI, Scott begins to wonder if he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

George always knew his father was dangerous and cruel. However, he never thought that those titles would inadequately sum up the lengths his father is willing to go to, to get what he wants. The only chance he has is using whatever is on file against his father. Staying alive to do that is another challenge.

When he runs into the Shifter Protection Specialists, Inc. office, he’s desperate, but isn’t convinced anyone can protect him from his father. Risking more than he’d thought possible, he discovers that maybe he is more than he’s always been taught to believe.

One thing is for certain—his father is not going to give up easily.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

I really liked George from the start. His plight just made me feel for him. From the beginning things are bad for George. His father is a serious asshole and he gets worse as the story goes. But even with all the things going on George still was able to keep a sense of humor. I liked his personality and his wit. Really he was just adorable to me.

Scott is a hottie no doubt. But he is far from perfect. He more the wham, bam, and leave type. He so does not understand the pull George has on him. So he does makes mistakes along the way. Luckily he does finally pull his head of his ass.

Throughout the story there is intrigue, several close calls, attempted murder, sarcasm to the extreme, and pretty damn awesome sex. This was a wacky ass rollercoaster ride and I enjoyed it all.

Even better along the way I learned a little bit more about the family that runs the Shifter Protection Specialists Inc. Each one is unique and a character I want to learn more about in their own books.

I highly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more in this series,

Review: After ripping my heart out in Broken Circle, Victoria Sue has redeemed herself with this book. Not to say it was an easy ride, because it really was not.

Nothing is easy for this group of mates.

After the death of Darric, the three left behind are learning to adjust to having their fourth member being gone, well sort of gone. But I will let you discover what I mean by that. Blaze is dealing with not only a missing piece of his heart, but also with the growing issues with Winter Circle and other human dealings.

Conner seems to be losing his gifts and no one knows why. Not only is Darric gone, but Conner feels helpless to help Blaze. On top of it all Adan is pregnant again and having issues that cause Conner to worry about him.

A whole hell of a lot happens in this book. Really do much to list or explain. But yes there is very much a happily ever after, kind of, for these lovers and mates. They have a lot of problems getting there and people are hurt or die. A traitor that is so much closer than anyone ever thought is revealed and damn near manages to take everyone out with him.

This book was one hell of a roller coaster ride from start to finish. The writing was fast paced and well done. I was engrossed from start to end in the story. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat reading and wondering how it would all go.

Through it all some questions are finally answered, but a hell of a lot more are raised. The ending leaves it wide open for this world to continue. Weather it will be with these characters again or others from the pack I do not know. But I really hope to read more about them all.
