Talk Dirty To Me

(Devils Pride MC 02)
by

Jessie G.

As a secret agent for the DEA, Snake’s gone deep into Devils Pride MC with the hope of bringing down the head of Miami’s lucrative drug trade and finds himself saddled with the club’s volatile and secretive SA instead. Unfortunately, after years as partners doing shit neither of them wanted to do for reasons neither of them felt comfortable sharing, Snake considers Trick his best friend. Now he’ll do anything to repair the damage his own necessary lies did to their friendship because, while Trick may have walked away from the MC, Snake needs someone he trusts to have his back.

Meanwhile, Snake’s contact at the DEA has him tied up in knots. The sexy voice and inappropriate comments have him walking around with a permanent set of blue balls. Life undercover is lonely and he lives for every phone call, but his own personal Deep Throat is skittish about committing to a date once Snake returns to headquarters. As far as Snake’s concerned, they only have one shot to build something together and he’s not willing to waste it.

Greg knows he’s not Snake’s type, or anyone’s for that matter. Former love interests called him plain, chubby, and boring. More comfortable in his tech cave than with people, he’s a grade A nerd who isn’t exactly GQ material. Normally he would never be brave enough to flirt with anyone—much less the very hot and very dangerous ginger who’d been starring in his nightly fantasies—but Snake needed something to keep him from getting lost undercover. What started out as a helping hand quickly became an integral part of their relationship—if one could call a five year phone conversation a relationship—and Greg is terrified that once Snake’s sees the wizard behind the curtain, he’ll lose the only man he’s ever loved.

Now the DEA has called Snake home to plan the next stage of the mission, leaving Greg no more places to hide. When fantasy and reality collide, will it be everything Snake hopes for or everything Greg fears? The trick will be staying alive long enough to figure out the answer.

(Please note: Snake’s bisexuality is only mentioned. It is not gone into.)

Review: Have you ever felt that you have nothing to offer another person, physically? You look in the mirror and all you see are blemishes, runaway hair, too overweight, and your self-esteem plummets. That’s what Greg sees when he looks at himself.

Oh, he’s super smart, quirky, a little too nerdy, maybe a tad snarky. After all, he does work for the FBI as an Assistant Supervisor Special Agent in the Intelligence Division so of course he also has mad computer skills. Being assigned to Snake (Gene to Greg) who is undercover in the Devil’s Pride MC as his handler is something Greg takes very seriously. Gene’s life is on the line and he relies on fast and correct information being fed to him through the phone by Greg.

What starts out as simple flirting, and it is simple and fun because it’s over the phone and not face to face, turns into a five-year relationship. Snake is on one of the longest undercover assignments ever and Greg has taken on the responsibility of making sure Gene doesn’t lose himself in the process. He may be Snake to everyone in the motorcycle club and even to his other agents in the FBI, but he will always be Gene to Greg.

Over the five-year assignment, Greg and Gene have reached a very intimate comfort level with each other. During their nightly phone conversations, they share their personal lives with each other. They talk about family, goals and dreams, and they share fantasies and have even gone as far as acting them out together, over the phone.

For Greg, it’s heaven because Gene only hears his voice and he will never see what he looks like and that allows Greg to be more open and honest and try things with Gene that face to face he would never have the guts to do. However, Snake is coming out from being undercover and the first place he wants to go is to see Greg. It’s time. And, he’s more than ready to make their shared fantasies a reality.

Greg is freaking out because after five years, he will finally see the man of his dreams. He starts to doubt and question everything about himself, about their friendship/relationship, and how Gene will, no doubt, be completely turned off by the real person. His self-esteem is hanging by a thread and it would be much easier to cancel his “date” with Gene. His insecurities are winning the fight and he’s ready to bow out, quietly.

Of course, Gene knows Greg, just as intimately, so he predicts Greg will spit and sputter his way out of their date and he’s not going to let that happen. Gene has already fallen in love with the voice, the pictures, the promises they’d made, so glasses, messy hair, and a paunchy belly have no bearing on his decision to be with Greg, in every way possible.

“I like what I see. More importantly, I really like what I know.” Gene shook his head, a touch of frustration in his gaze. “With me, you never have to pretend to be something you’re not. I’m already hooked, don’t you get that?” –Snake/Gene

Being back with the Devil’s Pride MC was intense and invigorating. Snake is only away from the undercover operation for three weeks and then he has to go back. During his time away from the MC, he spends as much time with Greg as possible and even though Greg continues to be self-conscious about his appearance they spend quite a bit of time in the bed, under the sheets, putting into play their fantasies.

Gene may come across as a hardened criminal, hardcore gang member, and/or a man who would just as soon kill you as to look at you, but that is Snake, not Gene. Gene is very romantic and he works tirelessly trying to convince Greg that he means what he says. He’s attracted to Greg sexually but also mentally. He loves everything about him and over time, hopefully, Greg will learn to see himself as Gene sees him.

Throughout the story, there is a continuous vibe of danger and suspense always running in the background. Snake has a mission, and with his friends by his side, such as Ty Malone and Alaric Bennett, and of course, Greg digging constantly for vital information, they have a plan to bring down the scum of human traffickers and drug lords within the MC.

Jessie G is a master at weaving suspense and theories back and forth and as the reader you begin to question everyone’s motives. Someone is leaking information, possibly ratting our informants and operatives and until that person is caught, no one is safe. You will be on the edge of your seat as they confront danger and you find yourself in constant fear of retaliation and you’re never quite sure who to believe.

All of these elements combined, along with the sex and dirty talk, create a powerful story of romance and intrigue. Who is leaking the information and putting everyone at risk? Will Snake be able to walk away from the MC without having to watch over his shoulder 24/7? And, if he does walk away, will Greg go with him? So many twists and turns, suspicion and deception, that you will be on pins and needles.

There are several new players that are brought in and I can’t wait to see how they play out in future stories. Everyone in the MC is not bad, in fact, most of them are not, but it’s really hard to tell who to trust and who to watch out for.

I’m looking forward to figuring it out.

A recommended read that can easily be a standalone, but reading the first book, Tricking Chase, will make your journey into this world of deception so much better. So much better.

To the casual observer, it looks like a dream trip. For Tate O’Reilly, it’s anything but. He’s a man on a mission to rectify a critical mistake, and there’s nothing to hold him back—certainly not friends or family. For Tate, it all comes down to one simple thing—he must fix what he has broken.

What he doesn’t count on is meeting Gabriel Carillo. Gabriel is kind, mysterious, and seems to be on his own mission to ensure their paths keep crossing. But Tate’s hiding an awfully big secret—one he’s certain even Gabriel can’t forgive.

Does a man’s past have to determine his future? In the middle of cities filled with history, Tate is going to find out.

Review: This story, The Worst Bad Thing, by J.E. Birk caught me off guard. It wasn’t the story that I thought was going to play out after reading the blurb. That’s not a bad thing, however, quite the contrary because I really enjoyed the journey. The author is new to me, but I connected fairly easy to their writing style.

We meet Tate after something obviously bad has happened to him, we just don’t know what it is. As the story unfolds we get more clarity to what he has playing out in his mind and he obviously feels as though he needs to make penance for his mistakes. He’s suffered a terrible tragedy that he lives day in and day out, over and over, in his mind.

He’s on a mission to travel and see certain destinations such as Stonehenge, Iceland, London, and Paris. He has reasons for these particular places and he hopes it helps in some small way make up for what has happened. On the plane he meets Gabriel, someone he instantly feels attraction and starts a conversation. I think Tate felt a comfort with Gabe because he didn’t know him, he didn’t know what he had done, and therefore he couldn’t judge him.

Gabe definitely was in the right place at the right time because he had a way with Tate that made him relax and remember what life was like before the accident. He’s very patient and understanding with Tate and only wants to do what he’s comfortable with. Gabe has his own reasons for going to London but while he has some extra free time he spends it with Tate and showing him the sights.

Tate and Gabriel have a lot in common. They, both, live in Denver, and while Tate is going through and experiencing PTSD right now in the present, Gabe has had his own battles with it in the past. He recognizes the signs giving him a better understanding of Tate.

As Tate and Gabe sightsee around London, Stonehenge, etc. I really was taken in by the way the author described what they were seeing or tasting. At times, I felt like I could see what they were looking at in that moment.

Even though Tate is enjoying his time with Gabriel, he doesn’t feel that he deserves that right. He hasn’t come clean completely with Gabe about everything that happened and he doesn’t plan too. However, an unexpected friend sees more to Tate and knows what dark thoughts he is carrying, and he takes matters into his own hands to try to help.

From the beginning, we know there has been a tragedy that affected a lot of people. Tate is young and cocky before the accident but now his life has been devastated and destroyed. I was really moved by the way the author puts the reader inside Tate’s head and we live there with him through the book. It’s a very emotional yet uplifting journey.

The angst level was low but at the same time Tate really pulls on your heartstrings. He’s suffered greatly for something that wasn’t necessarily his fault although it could have been prevented. Sometimes the best lessons in life are the ones where we have to make our own mistakes and pick up the pieces from there.

Tate isn’t really trying to pick up his pieces because he’s already decided how it’s going to play out, but sometimes our paths cross with something or someone entirely unexpected and it may just be the best thing that could happen instead of the worst bad thing.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to others. It is a story of hope and redemption. Some things fell into place a little too easily, but I believe fate was working to help Tate. I would love to see a follow-up with Tate and Gabriel making it back home and see if things continued to work out for them.

Most people would say being stranded in the villa of Spanish shipping magnate Miguel García Arquero on the beautiful isle of Ibiza wasn’t such a bad deal. But Hudson Barber isn’t one of them. To him, being stuck without a passport in a foreign country far from home is a nightmare, made worse by the fact that the person who did the stranding was his flighty twin brother.

Unwilling to turn Dalvon in for identity theft, Hudson is forced to wait, but meanwhile he discovers the chance to rehabilitate Miguel’s failing local businesses—enterprises left to Dalvon’s inexperienced care. The flagging ventures are a badly wrapped gift from heaven, and if Hudson can turn them around, he might be able to leverage the experience to finish his MBA.

Then Miguel returns to Ibiza, and instead of finding a boy toy, he discovers Hudson has turned his cold villa into a warm, welcoming home. Miguel’s path is clear: convince Hudson to lay down his defenses and let love in.

Review: Mary Calmes is probably my number one all-time favorite author in this genre. Whether it’s contemporary or paranormal makes no difference. She has the capability to take a story, give it two main characters, a well thought out plot, and bam… the reader is sucked in with her words.

Jory and Sam are my favorite book characters, but now I have to add Hudson and Miguel to the list of favorites, as well. They will embed themselves in your heart and you won’t be able to get enough of them.

Lay It Down is a wonderful short story that will have you laughing and cheering from start to finish. Hudson and Dalvon are fraternal twins who have completely different goals from each other. Raised in foster homes taught them to go after their dreams, if for no other reason than to have something no one could take away from them. Hudson was the academic achiever, whereas Dalvon used his looks for modeling and living his life in luxury in Spain.

When Hudson travels abroad to visit his brother he finds out a whole lot more about him than he ever imagined. After he realizes his brother duped him and stole his passport there isn’t much for him to do other than make the best of it. He’s hoping he can pass the time quickly before Miguel, his brother’s supposed fiancé and owner of the villa, returns from his trip.

Here is where Calmes shines and takes the lead with her stories. She throws in just the right amount of alpha male and sometimes submissive characters that fit so perfectly together that you will have a smile on your face and tingles in your belly until the end.
Hudson and Miguel hit it off beautifully and complement each other in the best of ways.

They see the worth and what’s inside their hearts of each other as well as everyone else in their presence. The secondary characters add that little spice that keeps the story going plus you have a bit of suspense/thrill/mystery that keeps you on your toes.

An amazing, heartfelt story that I highly recommend to any lover of this genre. The sex is spontaneous and electrical between Hudson and Miguel which only intensifies their relationship.

Everything you could want in a contemporary story is here. 5 Hearts from me.

Plagued by terrible dreams, Jon begins to distance himself from Baltsaros and Tom. Perhaps a little holiday cheer is just the thing to help the three of them find common ground again.

Review: It felt so good to catch up with Baltsaros, Tom, and Jon and see how they are doing since coming home to Madierus. Only… things are not going as well as I’d hoped.
Jon is struggling with nightmares, but Tom, always the peacemaker between the three, thinks he has the perfect plan to pull Jon out of his head for a while.

When Baltsaros tells Jon the story of Winter Solstice, or Corestmas, they decide it would do them all three some good to celebrate.

The story is brief but it was just enough to allow us to peek inside a little bit and see that everything is going to be okay.

These three might fight and squabble, which is part of the fun and I caught myself grinning from ear to ear, but above all they love each other and I can’t wait to see what they get up to next.

Blurb: Drew Jackson seemed to have it all. He has a family who loves and supports him, a tight circle of friends, and is a rising star with the Milwaukee Mavericks. Then, it all begins to unravel. Cam, the only man he’s ever loved, falls head over heels for Drew’s teammate. He makes a critical mistake in the playoffs that he’s not sure he’ll be able to recover from. And then, his world really crashes around him…

Eric Sapp may no longer play for the Mavericks, but he’s still one of the guys. No one could have imagined how much his life would change when he agreed to help his former teammates mourn the end of their run for the pennant. After stopping a brutal attack, Eric is forced to face the feelings that’ve been growing for his roommate, Drew. That’d be much easier if Drew wasn’t hell-bent on pushing everyone away as he recovers.

Neither of them was counting on Bryce Shaw. He and Drew enjoyed the one night they spent together, but knew it was unlikely they’d be anything more since they lived in different parts of the country. After Bryce is relocated to help a failing LGBT homeless outreach, he wants to explore something more with the Mavericks’ short stop.

As much as Eric wishes he could be the one to help his friend, he knows Bryce holds the key to Drew’s recovery. Will pushing the two back together be the biggest mistake of his life or will they all learn there is strength in numbers?

Reviewer: KathyMac

Review: Triple Play is Drew, Bryce, and Eric’s story and it was a very enjoyable read, for the most part. The reason I say for the most part is there are some really hard scenes to get through that will really pull on your heartstrings.

Drew still carries a little jealousy inside him over Cam and Jason’s relationship. He is trying to put it behind him and just get on with his own life. He and Jason have a closer friendship now especially since Cam is away with his cooking show competition.

Trying to finish out the season with a win falls short when Drew makes a mistake on the field. At least, in his eyes, it was all his fault. Gathering later that night with the team for drinks and a good time is not something Drew wants to partake but he goes, anyway, although reluctantly.

Unfortunately, he never makes it through the front door of the club, and his world closes in on him leaving pain and nightmares behind.
Eric is still part of the Mavericks even though he is not on the team. Spending the evening with his friends at the bar turns into the worst night of his life when he comes upon a fight in progress. When he sees who the man is laying in his own blood he quickly forgets about chasing the attacker and rushes to get help immediately.

Since Drew’s recovery is mention in the blurb I feel it’s safe to say that he was injured from a brutal attack. Sent home to recover, leaves Drew extremely moody and grouchy with everyone around him. He doesn’t want anyone to pity him or be made to feel helpless.

I love the support and love the author shows from Drew’s parents. They know he is gay and have never showed anything but unconditional love. Drew’s mom is a class act and I related to her so much when she tries to take care of Drew.

Apparently, Drew and Bryce have been talking on the phone and have formed a friendship of sorts. Eric is at a complete loss as how to help Drew with his recovery so he calls in reinforcements aka Bryce.
As the three come together to try to get Drew’s life back on track, there is a lot of feelings floating around between them. I never really felt connected to any of the main characters in Triple Play. Bryce was kind of a newcomer who steps in and takes over and Drew and Eric fall back letting him take the lead.

Bryce understands that Drew has feelings for Eric as well as himself so he comes up with a solution where Drew will not have to pick between them. All three of them will be together.

I don’t have a problem with a ménage and, in fact, I think Sloan Johnson has written one of the best in terms of the overall relationship. There was never any jealousy between them, they often referred to Bryce as the more dominant partner, and they all seemed to have each other’s best interest at heart.

What I didn’t feel, however, was the chemistry between them. Eric and Bryce didn’t even know each other that well before Drew’s accident yet they form a relationship to keep Drew from having to choose.

Stepping away from the main characters and their relationship, the author includes some very important elements in the storyline about teens and what happens to them if they are thrown out of their homes due to their sexuality.

Running the LGBT center, Pot of Gold, is what brings Bryce to town, however, what this represents is such an important factor and for me, one of the best parts of the story. I love how the author shows the players coming together and helping anyway they can to keep a roof over their heads. Drew’s best asset, for me, was the compassion and support he lends to Cory, one of the teenagers, who wants to strive to be the best he can be, regardless of his situation.

Overall, I really enjoyed Triple Play. I love catching up with past characters and Cam’s story gets its closure which I was hoping would be included. I am disappointed that Drew’s story came to an end and his attacker is still lurking around. I have a bad feeling that whomever this coward is that went after Drew, will be a lot closer than they realize. Just a gut feeling. Hopefully, we will get closure here in a future book.

If you haven’t read the first two books in this series I think you can easily read Triple Play and not feel lost. However, the back story and history makes it much more enjoyable and you are missing out on some great books.

Sean and Mason continue to be my favorite. Maybe because they are from the first book and you never forget your first. Either way, the entire series is a homerun.

Review: I doubt that I can adequately express how much I loved this book. It’s one of those books that you get sucked into and everything around you diminishes. My dogs were lying right beside me and were chewing up sticks all over the couch and I didn’t even realize they were doing it. That’s how engrossed I was with Better Than Safe, by Lane Hayes.

Paul is British and a little stuck up. He’s 35 and has lived in the states for 5 years. He is an advertising executive for fashion and has traveled all over the world. He’s dated a lot of men but never found anyone he wants to give his heart too.

But, he’s ready to settle down, find the perfect man, and have a life, at home, like his friends have.

Paul sees Seth at a modeling gig and is immediately attracted. He can tell he is quite a bit younger than himself, but he is transfixed by him. Aaron, his best friend, works with the models so he gives Paul’s number to Seth. They meet for coffee and it is a disaster. Paul is uptight, likes to be on time, and Seth could not be more opposite. He’s late meeting Paul so they get started on the wrong foot from the get go.

Seth is an enigma that Paul has a hard time figuring out. He comes across a little clueless, he’s snarky, rather rude at times, but also has some childlike qualities like laughing at everything. He doesn’t take life to seriously and definitely prefer to live in the moment. All of things that Paul does not like.

Yet, there is something that pulls him towards Seth and against his better judgment he wants to see more of him. Paul is cautious where Seth is reckless. Seth is an artist and musician and art is his passion.
Paul grew up with parents who were artists so he understands the mindset but he doesn’t like it.

He doesn’t want to be a muse for anyone, including Seth. He was in a bad relationship with a different artist when he lived in London and it turned out horribly. What will happen when Paul learns that Seth has also dated the same snake?

I can’t recommend enough for you to read this book. It has so many amazing qualities and I guarantee you will be sucked in just as I was. There are so many funny and laugh out loud moments that you will be smiling from ear to ear through the biggest part of the book.

Seth and Paul could not be more different but at the same time they complement each other, perfectly. Paul is uptight and proper and Seth isn’t afraid to call him out on it. They clash more often than not but they are so in tune and turned on by each other that when they do land in the bedroom it is explosive and magnetic.

Honestly, I couldn’t get enough of these two and I have actually read it twice now. Lane Hayes has done something that doesn’t happen enough when reading. She had my complete attention and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I wanted to hold up a sign that said “Back off, I’m reading. Don’t bother me.” Lol

I have read two other books in the Better Than series, but for some reason I missed book 2. I will be correcting that immediately. This series has great dialogue, it’s spontaneous and addicting. I feel like I want to re-read each book which means I may not be seen for days.

I am so in love with Seth, his quirky personality, his witty comebacks, his brilliance that he likes to hide and then throw out some off the wall revelation that you wouldn’t expect him to know, but does, and his love for the simple, laid back lifestyle. He’s real and genuine and I love everything about him. Even though he didn’t want to admit it, Paul loves everything about him, as well.

A great book that is not to be missed. Go get it, please and prepare to be completely enamored with Lane Hayes’ writing ability, her ingenuity, her humor, and two amazing characters that you will want to revisit time after time.

Review: If you are a fan of Jessie G’s Sizzling Miami series, then you have been waiting for this story. Safety in Numbers deal with 4 men who have been through some rough times that ultimately ended with prison time served.

Now, they are trying to make a life for themselves, show they have changed, and be strong and supportive to the ones they love. I’ll admit I had a little trouble keeping the story straight between the four guys. Jessie done a fabulous job of outlining each chapter so you were always aware of who was talking, but I still struggled a bit. However, that’s on me.

Billy and Owen are like brothers, probably closer than most, and definitely best friends. They watched out for and supported each other while in prison which resulted in them getting through the ordeal and coming out alive. They are still watching out for each other, outside of prison, and always will be.

Chris and Liam are step-brothers who made a pact to be there for each other the day their parents married and they never went back on that promise. Liam went away to college and Chris remained home still in high school. What happened next will shock you and hurt your heart. You will be enraged at the injustice of it all and want to kick someone’s ass. Never, in their wildest imaginations would they have thought that their lives would turn out with them facing prison and serving time. But, it did.

Out of prison and trying to find the right path, they are saved by Bull. They have been living together in the same halfway house for quite a while now and the tension is thick. Billy is attracted to Liam and vice versa but neither is willing to do anything about it. The same applies to Chris and Owen but they are also just as stubborn.

We already know that Chris has not spoken aloud for years, but we didn’t know why. Only Liam knows what he needs and what he thinks which may have hindered his ability to open up. He didn’t need to because Liam translates for him.

Billy and Owen have their secrets, as well, and continue to cover for each other which leads to more problems and misunderstandings. Owen is very insecure and constantly battling nightmares. He doesn’t trust easily which holds him back from opening up to anyone other than Billy.

Safety in Numbers answers a lot of unanswered questions and exposes the insecurities of the four men. As they spend more time together it becomes increasingly evident that they are going to have to step up and claim the men they want.

Jessie takes the reader on a very emotional journey that has lots of twists and turns. There are a lot of secrets and confessions that come out and the men work together to make their relationships work and grow.

We get to see characters from the past that we love and see them in their element at present which is always exciting. There will be more surprises that come to light and special situations that you don’t want to miss.

As Chris and Owen and Billy and Liam confess their feelings towards the other, things heat up rather quickly keeping you glued to the pages. They still have a long ways to go and communication is key to making their relationships work but they are all completely committed to each other.

Safety in Numbers is definitely a story you will want to read especially if you have read the others in the series. This is not a standalone book as it is imperative to read the series in order to know what’s going on.

I highly recommend this entire series because it’s amazing, Jessie G is a gifted and talented author that will hold your attention from the start. Each book is full of interesting and thought-provoking situations with a lot of hot and sexy men mixed in.

Review: I really enjoyed this short story about Simon, a book store owner who is losing sales and decides to contact a marketing consultant for advice.

While owning his store is his passion, what really gets his blood pumping is being a Dom and having a sub that he can control. He hasn’t been in a relationship in quite a while and he is lonely. He’s been to the nightclubs but he hasn’t found anyone that connects with him nor has he found anyone he would consider dating.

When a new club opens called Escape, his cousin pushes him to check it out, at least once. Against his better judgment he goes and as soon as his eyes land on Gavin, he knows he is the one. Especially when Gavin drops his eyes to the floor in submission with their contact.

Simon and Gavin connect on so many levels. It’s been a long time since Simon or Master S has found someone who he can control like Gavin. He knows this sub is feeling the same so after agreeing to go another round after a nap, why has Gavin disappeared?

Thinking he would never see the man again has Simon in a funk but it’s time to get over it and get his book store back in shape and making profit. It was a good plan until his marketing consultant shows up and it’s Gavin.

This was a great short story that really held my attention until the end. It’s easily read in one sitting and it has the perfect dynamic of a Dom/sub partnership. I think the author handled the BDSM aspect perfectly.

Simon was always cautious of Gavin and very alert to his needs and desires. The safe, sane, and consensual rules were in place from start to finish.

There is a little bit of angst as they both try to figure out how they want to proceed but their chemistry is very hot and magnetic. I wasn’t sure for a while if a happy ever after was coming because it’s very evident something has happened in Gavin’s life that has pulled him from the lifestyle for three years.

When the truth comes out it was a little emotional for me, but I was thrilled with the ending and would love to see more of these two as they start a relationship.

I definitely would recommend this to anyone who loves BDSM but just needs a short novella as it doesn’t get too involved in the lifestyle. The scenes they do have, however, are very gratifying and will kick up your heart rate.

Blurb: “I’ve just discovered a few secrets about this new world I’m now a part of that both frightens and excites me.”

I just woke up from one hell of a night. My body was still tingling all over from the mind-blowing experience of what I went through. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to reflect on that… or even bask in it. I had to attend a demonic shindig and bring an innocent human along with me, most likely for a human sacrifice if what Agent Smith from the Society has told me is true.

The problem I’m having is searching for a human to bring to the slaughter. A person who’s done nothing wrong. They don’t deserve to be put in the line of danger, nor do they deserve to die. How am I going to keep my cover, learn more about this demon cult I’m trying to infiltrate and keep innocent people from being hurt? God, I’m so far out of my league right now. I need help, but who?

Warning: This serial contains strong adult content not meant for sensitive eyes. The novelettes in this serial will be filled with dark, twisted, raunchy and steamy scenes between powerful, sexy men that will either offend you or get ya revved up. This series will not be pulling any punches, and it won’t apologize for hurting your feelings, either. You’ll find no fluff and ruffles here. These demons play hard and they fight dirty. There are approximately 36600 words in this novelette.

Review: Hold onto your hat because Nicholas Bella has ramped episode 4 into overdrive. From the first page till the last, the story is filled with action packed drama, sexual tension, blistering sex, a lot of fuck yeah’s, and Oh My God moments.

Brian struggles daily, since becoming a demon, with his humanity. Taking lives, whether they are innocent or not, is not easy for him to do. Not to mention, he is a police officer, so this goes against his moral and ethical standards, as well.

Brian is still investigating the demons, for the society, to find out what kind of spell they are casting. If he can find a way to get into their circle, he will be that much closer to finding answers. However, when Azreal wants more from Brian than just his sacrifice, Brian calls Raphael to his side.

And, Ohhh what a treat that was. Have you met Mr. Badass Dominant, I will fucking kill you if you mess with my mate, Raphael? He pops in, literally, at Brian’s request but he’s not too happy about being there. He’s even less happy when he thinks his mate has been threatened or has been taken advantage of.

Brian is surprised by Raphael’s behavior. He’s never seen this side of him, but he’s even more surprised to realize that he is completely turned on by this side of his mate. His aggressive behavior brings out the desperation and raw hunger in Brian.

Later, when Raphael has Brian alone, they both are consumed by passion and lust and desire for each other so strongly they almost break Adriel’s rule of no orgasms. Luckily, they were stopped before that happened, but it was so close. I love seeing Brian succumb to his wants and desires. He’s not only taking from Raphael what he wants but giving back to him, also.

The connection between Brian and Raphael is getting stronger each day. Brian knows that he can’t lie about his feelings anymore, nor does he want to. Sex is not the only thing, however, that he needs from Raphael.

He needs training, he needs to understand the demon world he is now living, and he needs to toughen up. He wants to be feared and respected by others in the demon world and as an Agoto he should be.

Adriel makes an unexpected appearance and catches Brian off his game. Forgetting to address the King with respect due him lands Brian in a world of hurt. As in pain… lots of pain and suffering.
Hours of torture and orgasm denial eventually lead to pleasure, and Adriel is unapologetic in the way he teaches Brian these lessons. He has many powers and reading Brian’s mind is one of them which gets him into trouble quite often and causing me to laugh frequently.

Adriel is brutal, but he also knows what he is doing. He doesn’t hesitate to reprimand but he also doesn’t hesitate to praise when warranted. Brian goes through a lot of self-discovery which can only help him as he delves deeper and deeper into his demonic world.
In this episode, Brian gets a taste of what it means to fully be a demon. Some of it tasted better than others, but he’s certainly getting the hang of it.

Once the lessons are over, Adriel makes sure to pleasure Brian and give him what he craves. Who would have ever thought that Brian would like it rough, raw, and primal, while screaming more, more, more, at the same time?

HOT, SEXY, INTENSE, and POWERFUL are just a few words to describe Adriel and the last pages of Hijinks. Nicholas continues to wow me with his creative writing and his ingenuity. He has created a world that is infectious, full of intrigue, and sexy as hell.

If you like paranormal, hot sex, a plot that is fascinating with lots of twists and turns, an author that tells it like it is, no frills here, and then you need to read The Demon Gate Series.

Being warned by his new team mates of the tough rules and hard training routines, Todd is undeterred. Review: OMG, I love Fit to be Tied by Mary Calmes. It has everything you could possibly want in a story. Plus, the sex between these guys is off the charts, hot. Watching Ian find his pleasure with Miro is absolutely mind melting. He had no idea it could be like that especially since he never felt that way with women. Another plus, the humor is hilarious as they banter back and forth and you will be cracking up at some of their escapades.

Miro and Ian are the perfect combination of give and take. Ian has that rough, growly demeanor that makes you stand up and listen, and Miro has the voice of reason, gentler, laidback attitude, that makes you swoon. However, Miro can also be dominating and fiery when needed, and he knows when Ian needs him to take that control.

Together, these two can do anything but when they become separated, they sometimes allow that little devil in their head to take over – putting doubt and confusion in their minds.

Miro has never been happier than he is now since Ian has moved in and they are now partners off the job, as well as on. One of my favorite lines in the book is “Ian was still technically bi, but was exclusively now Mirosexual and wasn’t interested in trying the buffet.”

Even though he is thrilled with how their relationship is going he still can’t help but want more. If he could just get Ian to agree and stop being so pig-headed he knows the next step would put his mind to rest.

But, before anything can be worked out, action and drama take over and Miro finds himself in a heap of trouble. You may remember the evil, sadistic Hartley, from book 1 and his obsession for Miro. Well, he’s back and unfortunately, Miro seems to be his only agenda.

Mary Calmes takes us on a fast-paced, action-packed ride that will have you holding onto to the edge of your seat. You will be so wrapped up in the drama you will forget to breathe. The events taking place are intense and at times, horrifying. I kept saying, “She wouldn’t…would she?” Whether she did or not, you will have to read and find out but the fear is palpable and my heart was beating double time.

Away from those moments are many that are heartwarming and beautiful. Miro and Ian have found the love they deserve with each other. Ian, not used to having anyone stand up for him, gets emotional at the intensity of feelings Miro shows for him. It breaks my heart that Ian didn’t really know what love and being part of a family was until Miro showed him.

Of course, we also get to see a little of Sam Kage in action since he’s the boss and I always get tickled at Miro’s response to the big/brawny Marshal. If he could only see how he is with his own family he would be surprised at the passion that lies underneath those muscles.

I know I’m fangirling here, but this author has not written one thing I did not like. Most of what she has written, I have read numerous times and the Marshals series is no different. The descriptive narrative she has clicks with me and I’m pulled in every/single/time. I am constantly fighting myself to read faster vs. no…read slower so it will last longer.

Regardless, if you read fast or slow, you will be enthralled with the storyline. There is a lot of love going on and no matter if it is under the sheets or out in the day-to-day adventures these two have a strong connection with an abundance of hot chemistry.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes to read stories with a plot full of action and drama. This is not a standalone although I guess you could but you would miss so much back history that I would not advise it. There is a wonderful cast of characters including the strong and vibrant women that never hesitate to circle the wagons around Miro.

I love the parts with Chickie, the dog because he is family and shouldn’t be left out. The dialogue is fun and catchy and I know I had a smile on my face through most of the book. The sex is spontaneous and combustible so don’t be surprised if you catch yourself sweating a bit. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series and I will be eagerly anticipating its release.

Another great addition that I will re-read many times.

Review: Into the Team, by Rob Damon is his debut novel about a small boy, who lost his father at a very young age, growing into a man and fulfilling, both, their dreams of playing football. For those of us who live in America, we call it soccer, but it doesn’t change the dynamics of what the book is about, and that is team companionship/spirit/support/connections to your fellow team member.

Todd has dreamed of playing football since he was a small boy. He’s now twenty and it looks like his dream is coming true. As he is driven to an undisclosed location, by a football scout, he hates to get his hopes up for what this could mean.

He soon finds out that he is being offered a spot on one of England’s biggest clubs and he is ecstatic.

In the locker room, Todd sees two players in the shower together and this really confuses him. He’s pretty sure they were touching each other in a sexual way, but why isn’t anyone saying anything?

The more he learns about team dynamics and bonding the more questions play havoc with his head. When the boss notices Todd’s concern he pulls him into the office for a talk. His theory has proven that by partnering up with another team member, one that you connect with strongly, makes the flow of your skill on the field much better.

Todd doesn’t deny that knowing your team members and being able to anticipate their moves on the field works great but he is not sure about the intimacy he witnesses.
I really enjoyed this story and I liked the author’s writing style. I wasn’t sure how the story was going to play out, but I was intrigued enough to stay with it and basically read it in one sitting.

I wouldn’t consider this a romance, at all, more like a bro-mance. There isn’t any sex in the book, to speak of, and but there is touching and kissing. Most is handled off page allowing the reader to use their imagination.

With that said, there are moments of intimacy between the players that are very realistic and sweet, bordering on hot and sensual. The more comfortable Todd becomes with the team, the more he is at ease with expressing his feelings. At first, he’s very reserved and almost bashful, but he soon gives in wanting that connection with his teammate.

He does start to question his sexuality, however, and wonders if he is gay or at least bi. His partner on the team is Daryl, who is very shy and keeps more to himself. He has never clicked with anyone on the team until Todd came along. These two have a history together and I was really hoping that it would bring them closer, off the field, as well as on.

The story flows along at a nice pace and the author spends most of his focus on the field or locker rooms where the players are learning to trust and form connections. There were some phrases that I was not familiar with since this happens in England but I wasn’t thrown from the story. At one point, I was completely under the author’s spell, when the guys were on the field and the author narrated the game, play-by-play.

I actually felt as though I was on the field watching, holding my breath, willing the ball to go into the net. It was intense and I think I held my breath through the whole game. Great job by the author with his detailed descriptive narrative.

The author, in my opinion, leaves the story open for the reader to form their own opinion as far as the HEA or HFN. I choose to believe that Todd and Daryl, both, have their happy ever after and I would love to see more about them in the future to see if I am right.

I would definitely recommend this story to other readers who like a story with heart. There is a scene where I had tears pouring down my face as Todd faces some of his past about his dad. It was a beautiful and heartfelt moment and the author had my undivided attention. Then, there were moments that had me smiling from ear to ear celebrating their joy with them.

Overall, the story was very moving and I would definitely read more from this author.

Blurb: All James wanted was a little solitude at his favorite resort: bright sunshine overhead, soft, white sand underfoot, and a hammock to read in while the warm breeze rustles through the coconut palms and almond trees. However, when an old acquaintance shows up, and James is obliged to share “his” beach, a profound exchange over a bottle of rum leads to a lust-fuelled encounter in the dark.

Reeling from the intensity of the drunken tryst, James decides to cut his vacation short rather than face what he’s kept hidden under mountains of denial.

However, his escape is thwarted when Rudie, handsome and plainspoken, calls him out on his behavior and makes him see that life needn’t be spent running away from his desires.

Set at a rundown old resort on a small Caribbean island, The Last Nights of The Frangipani Hotel is a story about letting go of fear and learning that passion and love can be found in the most unexpected of places.

Review: As the author narrates the story, mostly threw the voice of James, an actor on hiatus who craves silence and a solitary existence, we find him where he vacations on an island in the Caribbean surrounded by the solitude he craves. The Last Nights of the Frangipani Hotel will pull you in, as though you are there on the island watching from the distance.

Bey Deckard is a masterful storyteller and with his descriptions and details that set up the backdrop of this story, you have a perfect visual of two men, both different yet so much alike, looking to belong…to something or someone.

Rudie, also an actor, stumbles onto “James’s beach” looking for his own rest and relaxation. At first, James is a little put out that he now has company encroaching on his island, as he likes to refer to it, but he soon realizes that having company is not so bad.

James’s denial runs deep about his wants and desires but the hidden truths that have plagued him for many years are starting to surface, as he watches Rudie from a distance. The big question is will he be able to accept the change that Rudie has brought out in him? Will he be able to turn his brain off and enjoy their moments together?

James has a couple of bouts of panic but Rudie brings him back with his words and understanding. He even experiences a bit of jealousy and is surprised by the intensity of his feelings. However, he knows their time is coming to an end and he wants to make the most of it.

Rudie has darker needs that he is not afraid to voice. As their last days dwindle down, James succumbs to his own needs that are no longer hidden in the recesses of his mind. Giving Rudie what he begs for without restraint and an urgency he has never felt with anyone else, he accepts his true self.

“Teeth bared, I nearly shook with panic and anger and desire as I pushed his legs apart. He didn’t resist. I threw myself down on him, my weight sinking him into the mattress as I grasped my cock and guided it, thrusting into him hard.”
— James

Their time together behind the shutters and closed doors are sometimes rough and miscalculated, but no less intense and moving. They also share pieces of themselves with no expectations in the light of day.

James arrived on the island a lonely and somewhat critical man but he will leave with a new outlook on his future and new possibilities to explore. He finds himself smiling at what lies ahead, but more importantly…the man that he will see.

An incredible short story that is packed full of emotions and new discoveries. If you read, The Complications of T, you will catch a small reference that will bring a smile to your face and if you didn’t it wasn’t relevant enough to throw you off kilter.

Bey Deckard is brilliant with writing lyrical prose and this story is no different with its smooth and flawless execution. One of the things I love best reading stories by this author is I always learn something. Whether it’s new words, phrases, or a spot on the map, I always take away new knowledge and I love that.

I highly recommend this novella to anyone who loves to fall into a story where the author cloaks you with words and descriptions and you are mesmerized until the end.
