Pete Griflow is the last person anyone would suspect of being a porn star. He’s quiet, gawky, and can’t even talk to guys without turning red. But on camera, he’s a different person. In the porn world, he’s Jaden Prime, a coquettish power bottom who’s been tantalizing fans for over a year now.

Pete is in a rut, though, and he knows it. And what’s worse, his boss knows it. If he can’t reignite his passion for the biz, he’s going to have trouble paying his none-too-cheap college tuition.

When Pete is given the opportunity to star in a huge summer production, sparks fly between him and his costar, Kyle Darko. Kyle is Pete’s opposite: he’s daring, achingly sexy, and in love with the sex industry. Their chemistry is palpable on and off screen, but dating on a porn set is tricky. Even pros struggle to separate fantasy from reality, especially with a script dictating their seduction. But what’s building between them can’t be ignored, and it’s so much more than getting some “action.”

Lorraine Tyler is the only queer person in Bend, Minnesota. Or at least that’s what it feels like when the local church preaches so sternly against homosexuality. Which is why she’s fighting so hard to win the McGerber scholarship—her ticket out of Bend—even though her biggest competition is her twin sister, Becky. And even though she’s got no real hope—not with the scholarship’s morality clause and that one time she kissed the preacher’s daughter.

Everything changes when a new girl comes to town. Charity is mysterious, passionate, and—to Lorraine’s delighted surprise—queer too. Now Lorraine may have a chance at freedom and real love.

But then Becky disappears, and Lorraine uncovers an old, painful secret that could tear the family apart. They need each other more than ever now, and somehow it’s Lorraine—the sinner, the black sheep—who holds the power to bring them together. But only if she herself can learn to bend.

Review:  When I first got this book, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.  The author was new for me and I have never really cared for ready books by those I have not heard of.  Also I am more romance then what this story actually is.  It is a very depressing story about a young man with depression.  I suppose in a way it would actually be a great story for those who are dealing with it.  It also shows new love and how each compliments the other.  Although I also can’t figure out why the author fit two kids with mental illness with each other.  For me it didn’t really make a lot of sense.

The story was a bit dry and was focused on the kid’s illness.  To be a love story, it really didn’t work out the way that I had expected it to.  Our main character, Jesse is nineteen, but to tell you the truth he sounds like an old man.  The story was all over the place and the added in word description really didn’t help much.  The part where he is in a mental hospital it just came off odd also.  The story seemed just repetitive and went over and over to me.  Everything felt like it was forced out of the author.

Jesse and Adam met at their therapist.  They seem to hit it off, but Jesse seemed more focused on his dark days then he did his boyfriend.  There was some good parts to it, but Adam was more there in heart to me.  Whereas Jesse comes off like an old man, Adam who is older comes off like a teenager.  They didn’t really connect like I felt they should have.

Adam was my favorite character out of the whole story, but even he came off strange.  I did enjoy his enthusiastic remarks quite a bit, he always seemed happy.  However deep down I wonder how he really felt.

Over all the story just didn’t flow the way it should have, and the pace was slow going.  I hate to admit that I skimmed over most of this book just to finish it.  I am going to say that it was just not my kind of story at all.  The writing was not bad, but the story just didn’t rock the way I wanted it to.

Gaming while female is enough to incur the wrath of the dude-bros, and they’ve come for me. Instead of fighting back, I’ve created an alternate account. Male name, male pronouns. And I’ve met this girl. I’ve always liked girls, and Laura’s adorable and smart and never gives up, and she likes me back. Or rather, she likes the man I’m pretending to be. But I can’t tell her I’m a woman without the mob coming after her too.

And besides: I might not be a woman, not really.

The truth is, I don’t know what I am anymore. I’ve spent my whole life being told how I’m supposed to act and what I’m supposed to be, but none of it feels right. And my lie is starting to feel truer than anything I’ve ever been.

There’s a convention coming up, but the closer it gets, the more I have to choose: lie or fight. But if I don’t stand my ground as a girl, am I letting the haters win?

Then again, those aren’t the only two ways to live.

High school junior Berlin Webber is about to reap the fruits of his hard work and land a football scholarship—if he can keep his sexuality a secret from his best friend, Trent, and their homophobic coach. Initially sarcastic and aloof, Hiroku finds in Berlin a steady, supportive friend who soon becomes more. As Hiroku and Berlin’s romance blossoms, they take greater risks to be together. But when a horrific act of violence tears them apart, they both must look bigotry in the face. While Berlin has always turned to his faith for strength, Hiroku dives into increasingly dangerous ways of coping, pushing them in opposite directions just when they need each other most.

Blurb: Justin Walker is used to being the hookup but never the boyfriend, and that’s okay. Justin has goals—he might sling burgers by night and work on his car by day, but he has plans to go to school and make a life for himself. He also has a few friends and loving parents.

What more could a guy ask for?

Hot, muscular, manly Shane Steel is a walking wet dream. Justin fantasizes about having Shane as more than a casual acquaintance, and one night he works up the courage to flirt with Shane. To his surprise—and terror—Shane is interested. Very interested.

As they bond over their love of cars and drag racing, Justin begins to believe he can be more to Shane than a side guy. Too bad Shane’s manipulative and dangerous ex is dead set against letting that happen.

Review: Justin just wants someone to love and for someone to love him, and not only for one night stands. With the insecurities and lots of uncertainties in his life, it’s hard to put himself out there without getting hurt. That doesn’t only mean in relationships, he’s been abuse by guys that he thought he had something good with. Justin and Shane have been friends for a while now, and they usually hang together enjoying each other’s company. Shane is a Mechanic, who has his own business which he loves. Justin is a Supervisor in a fast food joint slinging Burgers. His job is a means to an end, because it helps to pay the bills, and he wants to go back to College to pursue his dream.

Hanging out at the Arcade and playing games. Justin realizes that he’s developing feeling for his friend and starts to panic, because he thinks that Shane is straight because he only ever sees him with women, and he doesn’t want to risk putting himself forward only to be shot down like a couple other times with other guys. Shane likes Justin as well and wants things to go further with him than just friends. Things are developing for both of them and it all takes a bad turn, when Shane comes across an old school friend that wants to insinuate himself between him and Justin. Once again, Justin ends up getting hurt, but will Shane figure out that not all the screws are connected in his old-school mate’s head, before he loses Justin for good.

Looking at the cover of this book and reading the blurb is what got me reading this book. Bald head mechanic, and shy younger guy that is looking for someone to love, or as he said it, ‘Cuddle’. But the blurb is lots more exciting than the book. Yes, I love friends to lovers’ stories, but this short story really didn’t do much for me. With who the dedication in this book is for. This story in no way compares, the only racing in this story is when they go to the track.

Blurb: Romance novels always end with a happy ever after. Right?

Evan and Adam are best friends, but they don’t know everything about each other. For one thing, Adam doesn’t know Evan writes and publishes gay romance novels until he discovers one while snooping on Evan’s laptop.

This revelation changes their relationship in ways neither could’ve imagined. Adam’s reaction to reading Evan’s stories is not what he expected, nor is the new way he’s looking at his lifelong pal. After all, Adam is straight, or so he’s always thought, and that is what Evan believes about Adam as well.

When Evan admits he might be bisexual, Adam suggests he try dating girls to find out for sure, but when Evan follows his advice, Adam is caught off guard by his feelings of jealousy. And when the date proves Evan isn’t bisexual, but gay, Evan’s request that Adam find him a guy might be the last straw.

How can Adam admit he wants that guy to be him? His epiphany will either end their relationship—or change it into something wonderful in their very own friends-to-lovers romance.

Review: Oh WOW. I absolutely love Friends to Lovers stories and this author nailed it for me. I’ve never read from this author before, but if all of her books are like this. I’ll be reading more of her works. From beginning to end, she was consistent with her story line and it didn’t veer off into anything else, but the two main characters. The title however threw me for a loop, and was looking for something else entirely, but she kept me hooked from the beginning, and that’s a plus for her and me.

Evan and Adam have been friends like forever it seems and they’ve always had each other’s back. They live next door to each other and enter through each bedroom from a branch on a tree between the two houses. One morning as usual, Adam climbs through Evan’s bedroom and got the shock of his life when he snooped, and saw the contents on his best friend’s laptop. Evan writes gay romance stories.

In some parts of this story, I was really wondering if these two friends would end up together with all the obstacles that they went through when Evan decided that it was time that he started dating. He always thought of himself as being bi-sexual, but after his first date, he knew without a doubt that he was gay. That is when everything changed between him and Adam. I was so rooting for the two of them to hook up, but what Adam did left Evan feeling very hurt, and it seems as if he had lost his best friend for life.

I would definitely recommend this light short story for anyone that is looking for friends to lover’s stories.

While on holiday in Toronto, Evie Whitmore planned to sightsee and meet other asexuals, not audition for a dance competition. Now she’s representing Toronto’s newest queer dance studio, despite never having danced before. Not only does she have to spend hours learning her routine, she has to do it with one of the grumpiest men she’s ever met. Tyler turns out to be more than a dedicated dancer, though—he might be the kind of man who can sweep her off her feet, literally and figuratively.

Tyler Davis has spent the last year recovering from an emotionally abusive relationship. So he doesn’t need to be pushed into a rushed routine for a dumb competition. Ticking major representation boxes for being trans and biracial isn’t why he went into dance. But Evie turns out to be a dream student. In fact, she helps him remember just how good partnering can be, in all senses of the word. Teaching her the routine, however, raises ghosts for him, ones he’s not sure he can handle.

Plans change, and people change with them. Learning a few steps is one thing; learning to trust again is another entirely.

Review: I have not had a chance to read any stories from these two authors, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.  I must admit that the title and the cover of the book really didn’t do it for me.  The cover was a bit dull and almost had me looking for another story.  Also the title seemed a bit dated for this type of story.  Then I got to the blurb and I was a little bit more interested.  Although I will admit that stories that focus around sports really don’t rock my world.

Reed is a strange character but there was one goal he never let go, and that was to be in the Olympic’s. He was a typical boy who had the hots for two of his classmates and friends.  At first it was Cal, his best friend and neighbor, and then there is Mathias.  Now him and Mathias are at different ends.  Mathias comes from a wealthy family and Reed’s is just making it.  Things slowly change when Cal was injured in a car accident and his swimming career that he looked forward to ending.  The coach brings Mathias into the deal.

Cal is still Reed’s best friend but his heart is with Mathias.  The problem was Mathias was out and proud, where Reed had to stay in the closet. They become better friends and closer.  For the whole story you really need to read the book.

I am afraid that even though it was a very entertaining story, it was just so long that I lost interest in it through certain parts of the story.  I hate to admit that I put the book down, then went back to it, and then put it down again. It is a very slow paced story that is not my kind of book.  It was as I said very entertaining but the book itself was just not for me.

Last year, Javier Medina was your average socially awkward gay high schooler with a chip on his shoulder. This year, he’s . . . well, pretty much the same, but with bonus superpowers, a costume with an ab window to show off his new goods, and a secret identity as the high-flying, wise-cracking superhero Blue Spark.

It’s hard enough working for the Legion of Liberty and fighting against the evil Organization, all while trying to keep on top of schoolwork and suspicious parents. Add in a hunky boyfriend who’s way out of Javier’s league, and an even hunkier villain who keeps appearing every time said boyfriend mysteriously disappears, and Blue Spark is in for one big dollop of teenage angst. All while engaging in some epic superhero action and, oh yeah, an all-out battle to protect Liberty City from the forces of evil.

Zack never intended to become a phone sex operator, but with half a college degree and a smart mouth, his options were limited. It helps that he has a knack for thinking on his feet and a willingness to roll with whatever his clients throw at him. Sure, he gets his fair share of creeps and unconventional requests, but it pays the bills, and he’s in no danger of breaking his one rule: never fall for a client.

Until a man named “John” starts calling, and Zack finds himself interested in more than a paycheck. It’s not just that John has money, or that his rumbling baritone drives Zack wild. He’s everything Zack isn’t: educated, poised, and in total control of his life.

A twist of fate brings them face-to-face, and now that they’ve seen each other—and spent an unforgettable night together—they can’t go back to the way things were. A sex worker and a trust fund brat . . . It’s like Romeo and Juliet, but with less stabbing and slightly fewer dick jokes. Hopefully they can pull off a more successful ending.

Blurb: Seventeen-year-old Connor works his butt off to maintain the golden-boy persona he’s created. He has the grades, the extracurriculars, the athletics, and a part-time job at his dad’s shop… every detail specifically chosen to ensure the college scholarships he needs to get the hell out of the Podunk town where he lives. The last thing he needs is an unexpected attraction to Graham, an eyeliner-wearing soccer phenom from St. Louis, who makes him question his goals and his sexuality. Sure, he’s noticed good-looking boys before—that doesn’t have to mean anything, right?—but he’s got a girlfriend. There’s no room on the agenda for hooking up with Graham, but the heart doesn’t always follow the rules.

As he and Graham grow close, other aspects of Connor’s life fall apart. Family pressure, bad luck, and rumors threaten to derail his carefully laid plans. Suddenly the future he’s fighting for doesn’t seem quite as alluring, especially if he has to deny who he really is to achieve it.

Review: Connor Fitzpatrick is mostly known as the golden boy of his school. He’s the star pitcher on his baseball team, he has a beautiful girl, a perfect GPA, and is junior class president. However, with having a part-time job at his father’s mechanic shop, babysitting his younger siblings, and trying to be perfect he doesn’t need distractions, until one day when he sees Graham Parker, who’s wearing guyliner, from across the school gym.

Graham moved to St. Louis after a gay bashing that almost killed him. He decided that at his new school it’s going to be all about soccer until college. That doesn’t mean he is going to deny who he is or hide in the closet. But when he sees Connor Fitzpatrick all bets are off. A misunderstanding puts both of them working with each other and feelings start to grow. But after a trip to Chicago, discriminating pictures start surfacing online… will Connor be true to himself or will the pressure of being the golden boy be too much for him.

When I started reading this book I couldn’t stop. I cried when I read what happened to Graham in his old school and I cried with Connor when he started learning who he really is. The only problem I had with this whole book is that I sometimes felt that Connor’s coming out wasn’t really relatable. However, I had to tell myself that not everyone’s coming out story is the same.

I understood Connor’s want to get out of his small hometown and how claustrophobic it feels at times. At times you hate Connor and wish he’ll be more open but at other times understand why he was scared. I loved Graham from the beginning from his awesome t-shirts to him being opened and out about who is he. I loved that J. Leigh Bailey didn’t make everything with rainbow and butterflies.

With this story, you get the ugly with the beautiful and it compliments with other. 5 hearts and I can’t wait for what J. Leigh Bailey comes out with next.
