Blurb: An orphaned kitten may be the only witness to romance and the impossible.

Officer Alex Wolf responds to a lot of ‘paranormal’ calls that aren’t. Exotic pet birds aren’t monsters and unusual dog breeds aren’t aliens. It’s a good thing he likes the Animal Control officers, but he both yearns for and dreads those calls where he runs into ACO Jason Shen. Jason’s scent is so delicious that Wolf has a difficult time humaning around him.

Animal Control calls take a disturbing turn, though, when Wolf and his lizard-man partner, Krisk, discover the impossibly mummified bodies of rats and an unfortunate mother cat. The rescue of the cat’s sole surviving kitten not only gives Wolf more time with Jason, which is both perplexing and wonderful, but also leads to dangerous discoveries. Something inconceivable stalks the city and its officers of the law. Wolf has to figure out what it is before it can attack and drain the life from the people and the kitten he loves.

Review: This story is about Alex, a wolf who has more human traits than wolf. I loved his relationships with his adopted mother and his partner in the unit, Krisk. Alex struck me as a good guy who deserves the best.

However the so called romantic interest Jason I did not like. His attitude at times left a lot to be desired. I did not like his back and forth attitude with Alex nor did I appreciate the way he acted at Krash and Kory’s wedding.

I did see the attraction Alex felt for Jason and I was hoping he would move on from him. This was my least favorite book in the series so far. It was an o.k. read.

Blurb: Words damage more than just feelings as Carrington hunts feral books menacing the city.

When a ferocious book attacks Carrington at his own birthday party, he believes it’s an isolated incident. But similar books soon pop up all over town, menacing innocent people with harsh bits of poetry and blank verse that deliver damaging physical blows. It’s a frustrating case with too many variables and not enough answers, and the stakes go up with each attack.

With the help of his misfit squad mates at the 77th and the public library’s Rare Books Department, the missing pieces decrease but not Carrington’s vexations. His commanding officer rakes him over the coals at the beginning of every shift. His police partner has lost patience with what she sees as his delusional relationship choices and his inability to pick the right man in a vast field of two. City Hall demands that the books be stopped immediately. It’s enough to put a nutritionally challenged vampire off his skim blood.

Reviewer: Shorty

Review: The Carr, a vampire who survives on skim blood, is challenged when it comes to a case involving books whose words actually hurt people. I have never read a book quite like this before so I found it fascinating. I could have done without his partners Amanda’s love interest, another female though.

Carr is fascinated by someone through most of the book then suddenly is interested in the consultant. I didn’t buy this relationship as most of it took place at the end and felt forced and rushed to me. However it was great to read.

The overall feel of the story is one of excitement as each element adds to the stories conclusion.

Great read.

Blurb: Relationship and communication issues plague Officer Vikash Soren, but those are nothing compared to facing stick-throwing tumbleweeds, pill bugs and…time travel?

Unable to tell his police partner that he loves him, Vikash struggles silently, terrified of losing Kyle as a lover, partner and friend.

Review: In this second book in the Offbeat Crimes series we are treated to Officer Vikash Soren POV. Vikash is more serious than Kyle was in the first book. But I still enjoyed the difference.

I felt bad for Kyle as his Vikash is still in the closet and has problems expressing how he feels to Kyle. The secondary characters in the story added a delightful funny element to an already fantastic adventure/action packed story.

I simply love this story. It has time travel, weird creatures, paranormal aspects and two lovers who are still feeling each out all the while confronting threats as they appear. A page turner and a story that enthrals you from start to finish. I loved it.

Highly recommended.

Though Willem’s lost his boyfriend, his home, and his job, Kasha, who claims to be a magic cat, reassures him that all will be well. All he needs is Willem’s trust and a good pair of boots. Review: Such a wonderful story that had me from the start. Willem, upon his father’s death, inherits a cat, Puss. With no home or job Willem thinks he is losing his mind when the cat begins talking to him.

We learn who Puss really is as the story continues. I loved the details that went into this story. From the ex, to the goddess everything had me spellbound. I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll just say read the book. You won’t be disappointed in the least as it has romance, adventure, action, magic and fantasy all woven into one story.

Fantastic read. Highly recommended.

Review: Another fantastic fairy-tale inspired book. I loved the impaired twins, Snowden and Rowan. The bear that follows Rowan home and slowly takes his place among them was no real shock to me as I guessed he was more than he seemed. I was happy I was right. Amid the closeness that happens between bear and Rowan lies an undercurrent of mystery in the form of a stranger with a beard.

A magical tale full of twists and turns that leave you spellbound and intrigued to the very end. I truly enjoyed the entire book and hope that Snowden will get his own story as well to see what awaits him. Fantastic read.

The firestarter who can’t get a spark when it’s humid. The vampire who can’t drink whole blood. An attack one evening leaves a friend in the hospital, Richard with a bullet through his chest, muttering about strange creatures, and Josh fighting to piece together what really happened. Review: Josh is a vampire hunter who has been on a mission to destroy all vampires ever since the death of his twin sister at the hands of one. He does not care if they have committed a crime or not.

Richard is a very old vampire who is attacked by Josh. Richard has suffered a great loss of his own many years before. He knocks Josh out and takes him home.

I liked that when Josh came to he did not automatically fall for or believe Richard. Richard’s tale was as heart-breaking as Josh’. Even with their differences the two men find common ground over the loss of loved ones and form a bond.

But people from Josh’s hunter group think Josh has gone soft and so in turn make a plan to draw him out and end him. I liked the story. It was well written with the right amount of romance, drama, suspense, action. The hunters were vicious. Josh learns that he may have been a pawn in the destruction of innocent vampires by the leader of the hunters.

Review: After a strange encounter with a gelatinous creature in an alley Kyle discovers he has abilities and as a result is transferred to the 77th precinct. The 77th precinct consists of others with odd abilities who make up a paranormal team so to speak.

Vikash Soren is one such member of the team who gets partnered with Kyle. They are on the case of finding a mysterious killer who leaves mutilated bodies along the river.

What I enjoyed about this book was how well balanced it was. The drama, mystery, humour flowed smoothly throughout. The details of the mysterious killer were interesting as the story progressed.

The main characters were a hoot to read about, especially when they are working together and getting to know one another.

Fantastic and interesting read.

Review: Each book in the AURA collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This series has so many different types of paranormals in it that makes it absolutely unique to me. The worlds so fascinating and beautiful even though there are some dark spots to it. This world was created because of an accident that had happened at Berkley. It made our world merge with a world of magic and paranormal beings. It changed the way of life for everyone involved.

There are also a lot of different types of emotions put into this story and I found that it was enticing. Although there are some parts that I did not care for at all.

Ness is in love with Sin, but because Sin needs to feed on a female, he gives him what he needs. However it doesn’t make him like it. Now for me I didn’t really see the need for this in the book. It brought it down for me, because who wants a character to have to sleep with a female when we are all for men on men action.

Ness is a centaur but not like any one would know. He doesn’t act like the others and is damn sweet that you want to grab him and hug him. Now Sin is sad sometimes knowing that his feedings doesn’t make Ness feel good. However he truly loves Ness and shows it in other ways.

Then there is Kellen a cute little pixie that is being forced to serve a coven. A coven that wants to use his magic for evil. Now I must admit that I do like Kellen, Sin and Ness, but the way this book ended ruined the whole thing for me. I want Ness back with Sin and if you want Kellen then add him. Now I won’t go into detail because it will give the story away, but let’s just say it sucked.

I was happy with the way the book started but then it went downhill for me. So much so that I think I will skip the next book. It pissed me off but don’t get me wrong Kellen is a sweetie. I just didn’t like the twist that this book had at all. I do hope that in the next story they bring Ness back somehow. I absolutely hated this book but I suppose since it kept my attention I must read the next book.

It did its job though, caught my attention and kept me wanting for more of it.

Blurb: Everyone assumes life’s one big party for Dionysus, but even the god of wine and orgies has problems. His anger management issues are out of control, and his siblings suggest a visit to the Eternal Library to find a cure. The library of the gods is a strange and confounding place, though, one that Dionysus has avoided for centuries, and his certainty that the library hates him is confirmed when a killer strikes during his visit.

Life as the only librarian is blissfully peaceful for Leander, giving him the security and quiet he so desperately needs. Considered a monster as a child, Leander’s memories of his imprisonment in the Labyrinth left deeply carved emotional scars. But when a young woman is murdered in his library, he needs to emerge from his self-imposed seclusion to help find the killer who might still stalk the hallways.

Forced to keep company with Dionysus, Leander swings between whether the unpredictable and charming little god will keep him safe or drive him to distraction before the killer is found.

Review: This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone in my opinion. But I would suggest reading the others to know all the characters and their stories.

I must say I fell in love with both Dio and Leander. Both characters are so damaged but together manage to balance each other and make their relationship work. Not that things are easy for either of them.

Dio is the crazy god of wine, ritual madness, and a few other things like orgies. He gives the outside appearance of happy-go-lucky and a little crazy living a rock star life. However he is so much more than that. He grew up bullied and tortured by many of his Olympian siblings and step-mother Hera. This has all lead to him having low self-esteem, extreme cases of rage with blackouts, and a very funny at times thought process.

Leander is the Minotaur. Except all the stories about him are completely wrong. He the exact opposite. He shy, has panic attacks, is afraid to leave his safe haven of the library, and very much body conscious. Also he is a virgin.

Together this two are complete opposites. But they do find a way to make it all work. As they work together to find who killed Dio’s friend in the library they get to know one another. They find that they give each other strength to overcome their individual issues. They also accept each other for who and what they are.

Honestly from start to finish of the story I was enthralled by these two very different men. Plus it didn’t hurt that I loved the supporting characters either. Who wouldn’t love red panda library assistants, mushroom gardeners, fauns, and some other mythical gods and goddess lending a hand? Oh and let’s not forgot some very hot sex between a god and Minotaur.

Overall a very nicely flowing story and a great creative take on mythology. This was a great addition to the series and perhaps my favorite to date.

Review: Very interesting book. Shax and Vernin, demons, leave their home planet on a stolen ship. They take on cargo to transport to a buyer. In the process they learn what they are carrying and how much danger they are in from several different groups.

Shax, a demon prince, seemed arrogant at times yet sweet and at other times humorous. I liked the way he thought on his feet when the situation called for it. Vernin, a demon, has been friends with Shax for a long time. He seemed fierce and loyal yet always seemed to be telling Shax not to do something.

This story was adventurous, humorous and filled with danger. I found it quite entertaining all the way through. The cargo was a surprise at what it could be used for. I found myself both laughing at some scenes and holding my breath at others awaiting the outcome.

Can’t wait to read what happens next in this series.

Review: Really I loved the first book in this series and this was the same. It wacky and kooky and just plain fun. The imitation Angel Martinez has to come up with these off the wall situations is amazing,

I mean Pill Bugs that have the ability to transport in time. Scary freaking cook. Plus Leather Jacket is back, and now they have a new friend they call Tim. Adorable.

Then there is the ongoing relationship of partners Vikash and Kyle. This time Kash needs to face up to his issues with admitting his feeling for Kyle or risk losing the best thing that has happened to him. So there is a bit of angst there for them.

But mostly this book was funny and weird, and just a good enjoyable read. There is no deeper meaning needed. It’s something to read when you want to laugh. I mean what happened to Vance sucked… and really not funny… but really was funny as hell. You will understand when you read it even as you snort giggle a little. Or maybe that was just me. Anyway.

I was happy to see these two men and their brand of zany investigations again. I really hope they pop up again. I can’t wait to see what trouble they find next.
