Blurb: Everyone assumes life’s one big party for Dionysus, but even the god of wine and orgies has problems. His anger management issues are out of control, and his siblings suggest a visit to the Eternal Library to find a cure. The library of the gods is a strange and confounding place, though, one that Dionysus has avoided for centuries, and his certainty that the library hates him is confirmed when a killer strikes during his visit.

Life as the only librarian is blissfully peaceful for Leander, giving him the security and quiet he so desperately needs. Considered a monster as a child, Leander’s memories of his imprisonment in the Labyrinth left deeply carved emotional scars. But when a young woman is murdered in his library, he needs to emerge from his self-imposed seclusion to help find the killer who might still stalk the hallways.

Forced to keep company with Dionysus, Leander swings between whether the unpredictable and charming little god will keep him safe or drive him to distraction before the killer is found.

Review: This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone in my opinion. But I would suggest reading the others to know all the characters and their stories.

I must say I fell in love with both Dio and Leander. Both characters are so damaged but together manage to balance each other and make their relationship work. Not that things are easy for either of them.

Dio is the crazy god of wine, ritual madness, and a few other things like orgies. He gives the outside appearance of happy-go-lucky and a little crazy living a rock star life. However he is so much more than that. He grew up bullied and tortured by many of his Olympian siblings and step-mother Hera. This has all lead to him having low self-esteem, extreme cases of rage with blackouts, and a very funny at times thought process.

Leander is the Minotaur. Except all the stories about him are completely wrong. He the exact opposite. He shy, has panic attacks, is afraid to leave his safe haven of the library, and very much body conscious. Also he is a virgin.

Together this two are complete opposites. But they do find a way to make it all work. As they work together to find who killed Dio’s friend in the library they get to know one another. They find that they give each other strength to overcome their individual issues. They also accept each other for who and what they are.

Honestly from start to finish of the story I was enthralled by these two very different men. Plus it didn’t hurt that I loved the supporting characters either. Who wouldn’t love red panda library assistants, mushroom gardeners, fauns, and some other mythical gods and goddess lending a hand? Oh and let’s not forgot some very hot sex between a god and Minotaur.

Overall a very nicely flowing story and a great creative take on mythology. This was a great addition to the series and perhaps my favorite to date.

Review: This is the sixth book in Amethyst Cove Mysteries.

Rick Mohr, a FBI Agent is shot. His live in partner and Private Investigator, Ian Coulter is scared for his lover. These two seemed to have some trust issues that caused tension between them.

At times I wondered why these two opposites were even together as it seemed they fought a lot. I really liked the way each man’s character was as Rick was protective and Ian seemed to take risks.

But sometimes compromises have to be made for a relationship to work. They should have talked to each other more as opposed to arguing.

All in all it was a great read.

Blurb: The last thing Jett Walker wants is to attend his thirty-year class reunion, especially after spending all of high school in the closet. But then he learns the one person he was never able to resist will also be there—punk rocker Trev Chambers.

Trev was the epitome of everything Jett wanted to be, and now he’s reuniting the band he made famous in the intervening years for a final blowout concert. Though nobody back home in Louisville knows he’s gay, Jett finally decides to go to the event. He needs closure, and one weekend pretending he’s straight is more than worth it.

When he discovers Trev lives less than two hours away from him, Jett seeks him out on a whim. The punk rocker has grown up, but as far as Jett’s concerned, Trev is more appealing than ever. And better still, he’s also gay, and available.

Review: This is completely charming and thoroughly enjoyable read about two older guys who barely knew each other in high school but are brought together nearly 30 years later. That is essentially the plot line of the entire story but this simple plot is so sweet and the characters are interesting that it all pulls off really well.

We start with Jett – who doesn’t want to go to his high school’s 30-year school reunion and mostly because no one in his old home town knows that he’s gay. He was a bit of a late bloomer and while he out to the rest of the world, his home town is the last pocket of resistance, so to say. When he discovers that his high school crush, rock star Trev Chambers is going to be there too, with the help of his persistent best friend everything starts to roll into motion.

This is one of those great stories where you know that the characters are older gents, but at the same time age does not factor at all into the story itself. Of course, this isn’t a May-December romance either, but the point is you get the impression that these guys are as young as they feel. I find that refreshing because I have read a number of books recently that make a big deal out of age gaps as little as 8 years.

It also helps that these guys have great chemistry and because of life’s journey they’ve found each other at exactly the right moment to act on all that hot, sexy tension.

Blurb: MacIntosh “Tosh” Tanner has had the worst year of his life with the cancellation of his TV series, Cowboy County, and a former business manager stealing his money.

And now his boyfriend’s dumped him, too. He fears for his future until he receives an unexpected surprise. He’s inherited a massive, rundown ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas, from a fan. It’s worth over a million bucks. Discovering he shares this bizarre estate with another beneficiary, he wonders who it could be. Anyone would be great as long as it’s not his archenemy, Dagan Rucker.

Dagan, Tosh’s former co-star, was also swindled by the same business manager, but over his lengthy career, he invested in a lot of property. Settled in Topanga, the real cowboy heart of L.A., he bought the area’s first-ever working ranch and turned it into a bed-and-breakfast. He’s happy with his life, but lonely, and thinks about Tosh often, ever since they shared a scorching encounter five years ago. He’s tried for so long to work things out with Tosh, who refuses to even consider the possibility of them being together.

Review: This is a nice short and sweet story which includes a bit of cowboy action and a large dash of celebrity.

Dagan and Tosh were once part of the same successful TV series until it was cancelled and they were both swindled out of money from the same manager. Dagan has found himself well and truly on his feet – buying a small farm and setting it up as a B&B in northern California. Tosh hasn’t been quite so lucky, though he hasn’t been completely ruined. However, life has taken another turn for Tosh and now the mysterious inheritance has come up, which brings Dagan in his life once more.

This story is a bit light on romance and sex-scenes, but it is a real charming look at the forming of a relationship. This isn’t an insta-love scenario. In fact there has been a lot of unrequited love for each other on both sides. This feels real and relatable because it is essentially about these two guys getting their shit together while are dealing with other things in their lives.

Blurb: Wheeler Ridley is used to having men fall into his lap at a snap of his fingers. He’s gorgeous, well-to-do, and absolutely clueless about commitment and what it takes to have a serious relationship. Which makes the fact that he wants that exact thing with his relationship-phobic crush, Gregory Wang, almost unheard of. And yet…

Gregory runs the daycare center across the street from Wheeler’s gym and has a reputation in the tiny beach town for being the “ice queen.” Although he’s given Wheeler eyes from the first time they met, Gregory refuses any overtures and leaves frustration in his wake. Wheeler concludes that Gregory has a secret pain and can’t move beyond it.

Things change for the better, however, when Wheeler performs a deem that suddenly makes him a small-town hero, and as far as he is concerned, it’s worth the pain he suffered if it means Gregory will finally give him the time of day. Slowly, the man opens up to Wheeler until one day he shares the truth about the summer when his life changed forever.

Together, the men work to forge a new beginning—one learning how to think with his heart instead of another body part, and the other determining how to let go of the painful past to allow love into his life.

Review: I’ve become a bit of a fan of JD Walker recently. The stories are short and sweet, usually with a definitive HEA and the characters always feel so real. I still love the novelty of the series being named after Beatles songs. That is not going to get old on me at all. This is the second book in the Let it Beatle series and while there is some reference to the MCs of the previous book, this can be easily read as a standalone story.

This is about Wheeler and Gregor. Wheeler has recently moved to a new town after scouting out a location for his gym (part of this is also explained briefly in book 1). It’s a big change of pace – and even Wheeler admits that he was a bit of a man-whore – but it’s a good fit.

Now that he’s settled and business is going well, he can devote some of his time mooning over his newest crush, Gregor – who just happens to run the child care centre across the road. Gregor is both shy and frigid, but he is those for good reason. He also judges Wheeler as a rich play boy and decides that that is not what he wants. However, Wheeler can’t shake his attraction and he is willing to do what it takes to make Gregor look under the surface.

The guys have great chemistry. Wheeler is exactly who and what Gregor needs to heal. The only thing that I need to point out is that part of me wished for a bit of time of Gregor dealing with his issues.

Review: This is a bit of a kinky, murder mystery and all in all a rather fascinating read – because there were aspects of the characters that did fascinate me a lot.

The story follows NYPD homicide detective Nash. From the start it’s quite clear that he is rather jaded and probably seen just a too much when it comes to the darker side of life. The first half of this book moves through his life as a detective and the current case that he is working on – some grisly murders that involve tarot cards and BDSM.

As part of the case Nash meets Casey. Casey is something of an unexpected Dom to me because he seemed more sub than Dom in my mind. But he is a Dom and after Nash initially goes to Casey as a suspect for the murder inquiry, the two develop a rapport (and a relationship) when Casey in dragged into the case and helps Nash.

In terms of the story, this is a fast pace story that is more about the murder storyline than it is about the romance. I enjoyed the pace, for the most part the fast pace suited the mystery aspect and the rush you get as a reader. However, at some parts it was perhaps a little too fast and we needed more explanation or a character needed a bit more say or development.

If you like a dark and sexy murder mystery you’ll like this one.

Blurb: Bennett “Ben” Pachowski has been a bouncer at Throwbacks for years. He likes his job, though he gets tired of being thought of as more brawn than brain simply because of his size. He also prefers to be romanced before sleeping with a man.

Ben’s favorite band, Rebel’s Ultimatum, occasionally plays at the club, which gives him an eyeful of the sexy bass player, Monty Mabuse. They’ve been eyeing each other for months, though Ben is content to flirt and nothing more, since “commitment” seems a foreign concept to the selfish, arrogant and flirtatious bass player.

But Monty wants Ben to become the next notch on his bedpost, and a devious trick to get what he wants blows up in his face.

Will Ben be able to forgive Monty for his deception? Perhaps, but if Monty wants to have a relationship with Ben, he needs to make some changes, and it remains to be seen whether he can become the kind of man Ben will respect, let alone love.

Sometimes, a little romance goes a long way…

Review: You don’t usually find good short stories that can give you a story with a lot of meat, depth and details. This story is one of those stories. Although to be truthful I wished that it had been longer, because I would love to read more about these sexy guys.

Ben was an all-around great guy. He was a bouncer who on his time off read books to the elderly. He wanted that one man to make a life with, although working at the club he met asses. His attention was always caught on the bass player. Monty had once had a great life, till it was no longer good. He was jaded and took it out on others. It was going to take a lot of ass kissing to make it all good with Ben and to show Ben that he was the man for him.

I loved this book and would gladly read more by this amazing author. It has a serious tone but there is just a hint of humor to it that captivates me. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It was perfect for a little cheering up. I loved it and would definitely recommend it.

Review: This is a thoroughly enjoyable story of two guys from “the wrong side of the tracks” trying to make their lives better and have been reunited after some years apart. Its part friends to lovers and part high school sweethearts type of themes in a town that has its own underlying feeling of homophobia (though that isn’t strictly dealt with through the book).

After suffering life with an abusive mother, and a father who never stuck around (and now in gaol for life), Duke Smith is ready to leave his small hometown for San Diego – as soon as he clears his mother’s estate, what little there is of it. He’s not really a sad character, but he is a lonely one and seems extremely isolated in his small community.

At his mother’s funeral he sees his best friend, Evan, who he hasn’t seen in ten years after Evan left town to become a Navy SEAL.
It’s really a sweet reunion and what make the story are the minor characters. With just the basic story this would be a much shorter story.

However, Evan has a good crowd of friends – the guys on his SEAL team and their partners, which make the story funny and goes a long way to heal the loneliness you feel coming from Duke’s character. I loved the end.

This is just a pure romance and totally enjoyable from start to finish.

Review: There are times when you come across a book that just calls to you. Now I chose this book because of the title. There is nothing better than a man with a badge. Then I realized that the author was not one that I knew, so I was a bit leery of trying out a new author. However I have to tell you that I will be happy to look at more of her books. Then I read the blurb and I was captivated. I knew I had to read it.

Ike is not a con that I would consider a con. He spent eight years in prison but planned on going the right way when he got out. His kind heart is what saved a cute little red puppy, but they were going to die out in the cold if they didn’t find a place. Thank god for the sexy cop who found them. Perry was a sucker for lost causes and people who needed help. He was not like any cop I had ever heard of. He was like Ike in a way that he himself had taken in a dog that no one wanted. These dogs were like their own little saviors in a way. They found love in the strangest places.

I have to tell you that this was a blast to read. It was also like being in the room with them hearing about their love story. There are not many who can put a story with so much depth and detail in to a short story, which this author managed to do. I loved it and look forward to reading more by this author.

I would definitely recommend it.

Review: I think I have found another favorite author, although I wished J.D. Walker would make it longer. It gave me a taste and left me hungry for more.

I absolutely loved Gabe and Pierre.

Gabe was born to a religious family and had been at one time considered marked by the devil. He had a birthmark on his face that left himself conscious and a bit afraid. So when he left home he was shocked. He was saved by another vampire and found a new home. Pierre wanted Gabe for his mate, but it took him ten years to make a move. Well what can I say he is an old vampire.

This was one of the best short stories that I have read in a long while. It gives you gorgeous sexy men, feisty friends, vampires and some sexy moves. I loved this book and can’t wait to read more by this author. For such a story, it has a lot of meat to it.

Although I wish the author would turn this into a longer story. I had a blast with it and would definitely recommend it.

Review: I liked the campground and the reason for it that was great. Scott a 37-year-old who is not over his ex meets Gavin though the two seem to hit it off in the story I did not see the emotions between them. They seemed to be attracted to each other’s looks only. From my experience those relationships never last.

I really felt for Scott. He seemed sweet but he definitely needed to move on and let go of his ex. Gavin seemed funny they were a good combination in my opinion. It was a good read but would have liked to see more emotional aspect of the story as it didn’t seem real to me.

It was an o.k. read but could have been so much better.

As Phillip’s friend, Dusty’s politely tolerated. But if the truth of Dusty and Phillip’s relationship comes to light, the revelation just might be the wedge that tears apart not only Phillip’s family, but Phillip and Dusty as well.

In a time of war-mongering and peace signs, can best friends find enough common ground to save their love and move forward together into the future?

Review: I chose this book because the author was recommended by some friends. I wasn’t sure what to think at first. The title came off as historical so I was apprehensive at first. Then the cover made me think of a hippy in the sixty’s so I was kind of figuring that it would be bizarre. Then I made the mistake of looking at the reviews and it said something about young age. So I was not sure I even wanted to look at the book. I have to tell you, not to judge a book by its cover is pretty much right on.

Phillip and Dusty met as young boys and formed a friendship that would see them through trouble times. However they were definitely different from each other. Phillip went in to the military and Dusty was doing the peace thing. They found love in each other, but Phillips family was pushing him to do the straight thing. When the truth comes out it could go either way, but could tear them apart. These two have been through a strong friendship and a love that has grown.

I loved the story although it was definitely not for me. It shows how strong friendship can be to survive a time where love between two men could get them killed, not to mention the military would have kicked his ass out. Phillip is the type to overlook someone’s appearance and attitude for the good in them. Whereas Dusty looks like a hippy and people looked down on him. I think that the fact that Phillip saw what was inside of him and loved him no matter what was great.

It came off perfect, even though it could have been a bit dark. I would recommend it and look forward to more by this amazing author. I did have fun with it.

Review: Once again KC has written a story that just draws you in and keeps you captivated. I love the way the characters just developed together. I wasn’t happy with Leo, but after a time I realized how he felt was well deserved.

Leo had left his home town and the rumors that were running for a life in the city. He comes home when his mother passes on but he is left with questions unanswered. He wanted to know who his father was. He was hurting but a friend made it all better.

Well that and the fact that Harrison turned him the hell on. He had a chance at something, he just had to decide to stay in his home town and give Harrison a chance, or run. Harrison had not really wanted to be a farmer, just stayed to help his father. When Leo comes home, it is time to tell him how he feels.

I actually enjoyed this story quite a bit. I was not surprised however, because KC has always given you stories that just seem to flow just off the pages. The serious of the story has been blessed with just a hint of humor in it. For me I need to have some humor in my stories to enjoy them.

I had a blast reading it and look forward to reading more by this author.

Review: Hot Corner is a thoroughly enjoyable novel by Heidi Champa, whose books I’ve always loved to read. However, while this is not strictly a sports themed book, this is a fun read for lovers of the genre.

The story is told from the POV of Jeremy Woodard. He seems to be floundering a bit when we meet him. He has a somewhat toxic relationship with his on-again, off-again boyfriend, Josh, where they are both very selfish personalities.

To get away, he has been convinced by his BFF, David, to join him in Nashville at some sort of minor league meeting where people apply for a variety of jobs within the different teams. From there Jeremy is on his own little adventure where he meets love interests Trevor (one of the players) and Theo (the mascot).

There is a lot of “will-they, won’t-they” and quite a lot of indecision as Jeremy settles into his new position for the baseball team the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. One of the things that make this story wonderful is that despite his apparent selfishness, Jeremy really grows quite a lot as a character by the end of the book.

The characters that sound Jeremy – mainly David, Josh, Trevor and Theo – are really interesting guys. They’re definitely as complex as Jeremy, they all seem to be main characters in their own right and I think it would and part of me wanted to know more about the guys left behind.

There aren’t a lot of sports, there’s a lot of indecision and words left unspoken, but it all culminates into a more than satisfying ending.

Review: This is a bit of a funny and quirky story by AJ Llewellyn and DJ Manly.

After being caught with his pants down (with the boss’s son, no less), celebrated New Orleans homicide detective Montana Delray is punished by being sent down to the precinct (the 77th) where all the crazies work (I’m sure there’s a nicer way I could say that but that’s the thing). Down at the 77th precinct Montana meets some rather interesting characters, including Joe Hunter – aka Crazy Joe – who is a psychic.

This was a fun story with rather bizarre circumstances revolving around the crime in the main plot. But really, it made the story funnier. Montana is an ordinary sort of guy thrown into extraordinary circumstances. After being a strait-laced sort of guy he’s been thrown in the land of the crazies.

There is definitely some sexual sparks between Montana and Joe but the romantic side of the story is rushed compared to the “policing” part of the story. That was a bit disappointing, I’d like more relationship about how these two oddballs fit together.

This is a quirky and totally funny quick(ish) read. Those not familiar with the authors’ their writing style or story structure will probably be a little disappointed by the distinct lack of a definite HEA ending, and as I said earlier the romance was rushed.

However, fans of AJ Llewellyn and DJ Manly will certainly enjoy the story and will expect the rushed nature of the story.
