Review: This is a continuation from the first story. Leo is ready to move onto to the next step in his and Dakota’s relationship. After begging and asking Dakato finally say yes to the marriage proposal.

I really enjoy these characters interactions and the way they seem to take their time insted of just jumping into things.

Enjoyable read.

Since returning from Sydney to run the family property, he’s put his sexual desires on hold, knowing his mates would never understand. Review: While I can say that this is not the first story that I’ve read from this author, I can say that it’s one of her best ones yet. I love her stories and will definitely be reading more of them. James’ father wants him to continue in his footsteps and become a Lawyer, but that’s just not James wants. He did everything that his dad wanted him to do, even attend Law school.  From the time that he was small, and visited his grandfather on his farm. That’s what he wanted to do. Work with his hands in the soil.

James is in Australia visiting and he wants to experience as much of the beautiful country as he can, but he’s running low on funds and have to find someplace where he can find some cheap labor working on a farm for cash. He’s given a heads up about a farmer, but is told that he might or might not be hired. Lachlan is a farmer, who took over the family business when his dad died. He’s trying to make ends meet and knows that it will be another difficult time harvesting alone.

From their first meeting, Jamie and Lachlan don’t seem to have much in common other than their love of the land.  But as they get to know each other, the attraction between them is strong, and the lust between them begins to grow both in and out of the bedroom. Lachlan however is in the closet and none of his friends knows that he is gay, and Jamie isn’t going back in for no-one. He’s proud of who he is. At a get together, with friends, Jamie is attacked and beaten very badly. Lachlan has to decide if he will lose the man he loves because of hateful men, or because of his stubbornness, and Jamie needs to figure things out and decide if he can commit his future to be with a man that isn’t willing to fight for what he wants.

This is a story that I would gladly recommend to anyone interested.

As Chief Executive Officer of Travel Mogul—the largest travel connoisseur company on the West Coast—he has no time to get back in touch with his country roots. He left fifteen years ago without a second look, but a medical scare makes him change his mind about the speech and brings him face-to-face with his only regret.

Time always moves slower in Southeastern Iowa, and Aaron Grant loves it. He’s added solar farms to the Grant Lanes portfolio and has been teaching at the local university for a decade. The last thing he needs is to have his tenure application compromised by the return of his ex-boyfriend. Review: Dating in Retrospect is a completely charming tale of two men that were together as young men, only to be split apart by time (and the usual miscommunication and asshole moves by one or both of the men). Now Clay Keller has a way to fix things with the one person that he has loved, Aaron Grant. Clay left after college for the big city, where he knew that his chance to find the perfect job would be. Unlike Clay, Grant stayed in their small Iowa town hometown where he teaches at the local college (he has a PhD) and works on the family farm.

It all starts when Clay accepts to give the speech at graduation at his alma mater, where he is literally thrown together with his ex. Clay sees his opportunity and takes it – he proposes to date Aaron for a year. He is certain that they should be together, whereas Aaron is much more skeptical. It’s a really simple set up. As the story moves along we learn things about the men when they were younger, as well as finding out about the men that they have grown into.

In essence, this novel is the novel of Clay’s redemption. He’s a guy who has it all, except for the love of his life. Let’s face it; it was his selfishness that ended the relationship years back when he moved to LA. When Aaron made the only decision he could – stay in Iowa to help his dad with the farm – Clay ignored Aaron’s efforts to keep in contact. He really needed to grow up and face up to his mistakes. Whereas Aaron is the good son, the one who stayed behind and found his maturity years ahead of the man he loves.

Review: Love in the Time of Hurricanes is part of Dreamspinner Press’ States of Love series. It’s fairly obvious from the title that this one (and predictable if you haven’t read the blurb yet) that we are looking at New Jersey around the time of Hurricane Sandy (though I suppose it could have been New Orleans during Katrina, whatever).

This is a charming tale of two young men and in some ways I think of this as something of a coming to age story. The story is largely narrated by main character Nick Henderson. He moved to New Jersey to get away from his family and the degree that he didn’t enjoy at Rutger’s University. He is getting weary from living up to his parent’s expectations – specifically his father’s. So he goes to Jersey, rents a friend’s place and enrolls in to classes that he would enjoy at the nearby Shore Community College. Clearly he comes from some money, so at first it comes across as Nick’s attempt at rebellion – but Nick is so damn sweet and adorable and lovable that you cannot help but cheer him on and sigh over his crush for the local pizza guy.

Lou Martelli works at the family pizzeria on the Jersey Shore. He’s a sweet guy from a traditional Italian family. The stereotype of all that entails makes life or Lou difficult. Then Hurricane Sandy arrives and things just got even more complicated for the pair. Ultimately, though, these guys share one common problem – they are both too scared to face up to their high handed fathers.

Review: This was an excellently written BDSM story with an interesting twist. Instead of all the trite hot young twink subs, we’re provided a fine mature man of 50 filling the submissive role. The introduction is a tear jerker for sure. But as we read on and get to know both partners, a true romance, not just a kinkfest, develops. Not to say there isn’t plenty of kink. We get a bit of restraint, a little pain, precision tools, and some deprivation, but it’s all well written, and flows with mutual chemistry. The support characters are a joy to read and had me smiling the whole time I listened, and that’s saying something because I was raking leaves. I’m sure my family had to wonder what the hell was going on.

Only one little thing stuck in my craw, the narrators voice for Jarod made him sound like he’s an 80 year old geezer more often than not. My hubby is 54, and I can tell you he’s no geezer, and his voice is not strained. That is the only reason I rated the narration like that. Joel does well with the narration everywhere else. Once I got beyond that I could appreciate how each character had their own distinctive voice. My favorite character in this story was actually Maggy, Jarod’s mother. Not only did the narrator make her sound just like the Dowager Countess of Downton Abbey, she’s just as wild and kinky as her son! Made me laugh out loud.

If you like some bondage with your boyfriends and you’re in agreement with me that with age comes refinement and richness, then you’ll love this story. I did not read the previous books, and though they are all tied together, this read fine as a standalone. Dom of Ages was a pleasure to listen to, Wells and Williams make a great team, and I know I look forward to giving the rest of the series a try!

Blurb: Horses were his passion, until he laid eyes on his boss.

Eighteen months ago, tragedy struck Bywater Farm when a riding accident killed Clay Hunter’s lover and traumatized his prize horse, King of Hearts. Clay and King lingered in limbo, surviving but not really living, until a breath of fresh air in the form of Luke Davis, a new groom in the stud barn, revives them both.

When a fall from King’s back sends Luke to the emergency room, Clay watches the shaky foundation of their budding relationship tumble down. Can Clay really love a jockey again, or will his fear of losing another man he loves keep them apart for good?

Review: I always enjoy big hot studs and their trainers too. This book is full of cotton candy sweet romance. It’s fun to see Luke’s adventure into learning to gain a broken horses trust, and handle what other’s had deemed a dangerous horse to the point of riding him. Learning to handle his owner could be just as trying.

There is a smidge of angst here, dealing with a lost love, a dead mother, and two souls daring to love, but it’s mild. As far as the steamy scenes, it’s very slow, and very timid, and oh so sweet. I actually think, though I feel SO very wrong for saying it, that the hottest scene was actually near the beginning, where Luke’s imagination gets away with him when King is performing his stud service, and his new boss Clay is nearby. It’s totally weird, strange, but oddly hot. Not quite sure why, but that scene stuck with me. I imagined Lay riding Luke in the arena after that, but alas, this is not a kinky story.

This is a slow build to a sweet romance, of the untried virgin variety, but knowing that, if you’re looking for a sweet love story then that’s what Tachna delivers, beautifully narrated, with plenty of interesting characters.
