Everett learns he is a Bridge Master: a witch capable of passing into different spirit realms, but his revelation comes with a new set of problems. First, the powerful witch instructing him disappears, and then he notices something strange about his attractive new friend from the martial arts studio. Worst of all, Everett’s reserves of spell-casting energy continue to deplete. Only one thing is certain—Everett cannot turn his back on this puzzle until he gets some answers.

Review: Everett is a witch and something more that he learns about. He’s also a bridge master able to create a bridge between two worlds. He has a crush on Bryce from the dojo. When the two boys grow closer Everett suspects that Bryce is more than human. Going against his grandfather’s wishes Everett sets out to discover the truth about Bryce.

Along the way he puts himself in dangerous situations. I really liked Everett’s determination to find the truth about everything. Though I felt he should have used caution during certain circumstances throughout the story.

It was a really good story with magic, romance, supernatural creatures, mystery and suspense. I could not stop reading one I started as I wanted answers as well. Well written and interesting.

Great read.

Review: I absolutely love Friends to Lovers stories, and after reading the excerpt for this story, I was so hyped up to read this, but the first half of the book is all hot and steamy, and I was breezing through this, until it started to drag on for me. Christophe and his business partner, have been best friends for years, they also co-own a thriving company together. The idea behind the Masquerade piece injected into the story is brilliant. Christophe has everything that he can want in life, except for a significant other. His past lovers are nothing to speak about, because they don’t stay around long enough.

A friend told Christophe that the club they frequent will have a Masquerade night and that he should check it out. He’s free that night, and he goes. There he meets Raj, but Christophe thinks that he’s egotistical. They dance together, and then Christophe reluctantly leaves the bar, but not before they exchange information on how to contact each other. Couple days past and they started messaging each other. Now Raj knows everything there is about Christophe and he wants him, but Chris is the cautious type and doesn’t want to be hurt again by another man. Further into the story, the sex scene in the restaurant is so steamy and hot, but the moment froze over fast when Raj reveals himself to Christophe and that he’s in love with him. Christophe freaks out now, and says some pretty hateful things to Raj and then runs out of the restaurant.

At the office, things are very strained with Christophe and Raj/Jas. Chris doesn’t want to see or talk to Jas, so he hides out in his office, Jas decides that he can no longer work at the company with the way that Chris feels about him with the deception. He works from at home, and then he leaves the country without letting anyone knowing. So after talking with an employee and family members, Chris decides that he can’t live without Jas, and the way that he makes his body sing in bed. So he goes looking for Jas to beg for forgiveness. It then drags out for me, but hopefully for Christophe, he can convince Jas to give him another chance.

Blurb: Crossing the border into love.

Snap decisions and misguided ideas bring Portuguese national Mateus Fontes and businessman Crawford Hargrave together at the Canadian border crossing.

Mateus is caught in a catch-22. With his almost-expired tourist visa, entrance to Canada is denied, but the US won’t let him back in either. Crawford thinks he’s solved things when he tells the border agent they’re engaged, and it works—except now they have to actually get married before either of them can get back into the United States. But Crawford has been burned by marriage once, and he’s determined not to make that mistake again.

Neither of them expects real feelings to bloom out of their fake marriage, but they do. And the two of them have to learn how to be honest with each other to make things work, which is especially hard when their entire marriage is based on lies.

Review: Get ready to suspend your disbelief for Bru Baker’s contribution to Dreamspinner Press’s Dreamspun Desires series. The title of the book, Tall, Dark and Deported, gives you most of the information that you need to know about the type of story you’re about to read – so if you keep on going despite being deterred by the title then it’s your own fault! 😉

What you see is definitely what you get with the blurb. We got one hot South American (sorry, can’t think of his country of origin from the top of my head) side-eyes Prime *cough* Portugal, so European ~Pixie~), Mateus. He’s done something rather silly and used the internet to get answers about how to “reset” his visa. He wants to stay with his brother and sister in law longer now that they are setting up their own orchard and his sister in law is about to have a baby. He’s excited about being an uncle and wants to be there. That’s why, at the airport, he meets Crawfard. Crawford is a businessman and after meeting Mateus, he is willing to help the guy, which of course means marriage!

Despite being a predictable plot, this is totally enjoyable as way as to just lose yourself. As I said in the opening sentence, you will need to suspend your disbelief but that don’t let that deter you from the sweet romance (well, insta-love romance) that unfolds between the two men.

Review: I loved this amazing story from start to finish. Spine-tingling and exciting this story takes the reader into a journey about finding the truth, facing danger and overcoming almost unstoppable odds. Zach, a doctor, treats Raven, a man brought in beaten severely. Raven is untrustworthy of everyone but Zach with good reason.

As the story continues we discover a sinister plan to eradicate all those who oppose the government regarding the aliens. The aliens themselves broke my heart as they have not done anything wrong. They are only trying to get home. But since the government told all that the original invasion, which was not an invasion, was taken care of they have to find the remaining alien children left behind and do away with them.

Raven intrigue me from the start. He was unique in some of abilities and I found him fascinating. Zach was definitely a huge payer in helping the aliens as he was fighting for the truth. When all is finally revealed I was awestruck at the deception the government went to.

You have to read this story it was so good. I could not put it down until the very end. Highly recommended.

Blurb: Trapped in their closets, the only thing to do is come out twice.

Salford and Ruby, vampire-wolves, have been born into The Clan, into the Level where killing is expected. Hating their jobs eliminating humans who have discovered vampire-wolves exist, they long for better times, where bloodshed isn’t the order of the day. But that isn’t about to happen any time soon—not while Albert, one of The Clan’s twelve Leaders, oversees everything they do.

Ruby, a cross-dresser, has spent many of his previous centuries trapped in the closet. Lately, though, he’s been able to wear what he wants and can express his love for Salford in public. Knowing how freeing that has been, he wishes The Clan laws were different and that he and Salford didn’t have to kill, freeing them from that dreadful closet, too. But it would take a strong person to ask The Clan to consider a vote that would allow Ruby and Salford to be exempt from having to kill, and Ruby isn’t sure he’s the right man for the job.

With a London gang discovering vampire-wolves exist, and Salford having dreams that tell him what they must face next, Salford and Ruby must eliminate the men who are after them. But someone else is also a danger—someone closer to home. Someone who should have vampire-wolves’ best interests at heart, but doesn’t…

Review: Unique and highly entertaining. Ruby and Salford couldn’t be more different tha night and day. Ruby loves to dress up in heels and pretty dresses and has a great personality. Salford is more reserved but serious and thoughtful. I loved the fact that they were both vampire and wolf which was rare.

Not all approved of them and their relationship. Amid trying to lay low they have to work for The Clan by killing others that threaten their existence. But both Ruby and Salford do not want to do it anymore. They set out to find a way out of it. What they discover is a sinister plot that puts Ruby’s life in danger from someone who should have been watching their backs.

I loved everything about story. It intriguing, mysterious at times and action packed at others. The whole story was well written and flows smoothly as you immerse yourself into a power struggle of epic proportions.

Highly recommended.

Review: I really wanted to love this bundle. But alas I was unable to enjoy it as much as I normally would. Each story had great plot ideas but failed to keep the reading smooth. I was unsure whether this was done deliberately or not. At times I found myself annoyed at some weird sentence phrasings.

I feel each main character of the stories should have had background stories, yet some did not. As a result I was disappointed. But aside from those things it was a good read with great ideas to expand on or go through and eliminate some things while adding others.

This bundle is a total of five stories in the series that have werewolves, fairies, dragons, wizards, humans, imps, firebirds and quite a few others are in these stories as they all struggle to survive and to find the one they are meant to be with for all time while overcoming prejudices and danger. Dramatic and entertaining to a point this bundle has it all.

Good read.

Smudge really needs to get laid, if only to stop himself wondering about the softness of Raleigh’s curls and why he keeps running away.

After his tumultuous teenage years, Smudge has settled into his quiet life in the sleepy English village of Slopy Bottom. He’s his own boss with the time and space to indulge his artistic creativity. And he has friends. He’s happy. Satisfied. Lonely. And the pool of potential soulmates is almost non-existent. His friends, Rick and Mal, flush with their own happy romance, keep trying to set him up with the most incompatible men, and he’s never finding true love on Grindr. Hell, he’s not even going to manage a hook up based on the kinky messages he’s been getting recently. He’ll just have to slake his desire to find his own HEA in the pages of bosom-heaving romance novels.

Raleigh is the darling of Slopy Bottom’s blue rinse brigade: church organist, mobile librarian, and apparently wedded to his trademark cardigans. He seems to be the polar opposite of the artistic Smudge, whose brightly coloured mohawk and piercings should be a red flag to Raleigh. Yet he’s yearning for company too. It’s just that Raleigh has less expectation and definitely less courage to chase after it, for reasons that he keeps very close to his chest. Reasons that don’t stop him from being drawn irresistibly to Smudge.

Smudge is sure that the way Raleigh runs from him whenever he sees him is cruelly deliberate. A reflection on his bad boy looks and his disdain for Raleigh’s precious church. So why can’t he stop thinking about the softness of Raleigh’s curls and his delicate body? Then Raleigh offers an olive branch of sugar and caffeine, Smudge’s favourite combination, starting them on a road to an awkward truce. And when they are conned into working together on a community project at the local hospital, the proximity ignites a spark that can’t be ignored. But navigating the murky waters that could take their relationship beyond tentative friendship all depends on whether Raleigh can release his secret fears – and whether Smudge is the man to share and allay them.

But Clint isn’t the only who’s done things he isn’t proud of, things he’d rather keep hidden. Both of them have to be ready to drop everything and run if the past gets too close, and that’s no foundation for a relationship—especially since the truth always comes out eventually.
