Review:  Irrefutable is book 2 in the Eternity Series by Jennifer Rose. To be honest, it can be read as a standalone because I haven’t read book 1. In fact, it was after reading book 2 that made me want to go back to read book 1, Unobtainable. This was also the first time I’ve read a book by Jennifer Rose and I have to say that her writing style is simply enjoyable and just so easy to read, so easy to get engrossed in the story.

The story follows Tag and Fletcher. Tag is a photographer who has been flying around the world for years with his work, but now is starting to want to settle down and open his own photography studio. Fletcher was a rescue helicopter pilot who had lived in England before moving to the States. He takes up a job as a commercial airline pilot, attempting to put his life in England/Europe behind him.

These guys have sexual tension and attraction by the bucket-load, and they are very relatable. They both long for some sort of stability and even maybe love later down the track – definitely something that speaks to a lot of us. They have to battle their own problems in their personal lives, but Fletcher’s past comes to back to bite him, almost losing Tag in the process.

Not that I blame Tag, I certainly sympathized with him when Fletcher’s crazy ex turns up. In the end though Claudios is something of a funny character and I was glad (on more than one level) that he got his own little satisfying conclusion which didn’t include the usual death or jail for the problem character.

These are just two ordinary guys getting their shit together and there is something attractive in that kind of fiction.

Totally loved this and want more (as soon as I go back and read book 1).

Review: If you’re like me and you love a good, hot helping of sexy shape shifters getting together then this is for you. This also appeals to those that like the whole “odd couple” aspect or “friends to lovers angle” or “gay for you. And let’s not forget another romantic favourite – romance among a sport team, in this case baseball. The basis for this book, I’m sure, has something that appeals to everyone.

So suffice to say that I simply loved this book. I loved the story – there was plenty of sexiness, energy and humour throughout the book. I loved the characters – though let’s take a moment to pause and ponder a wolf called Wiley and a lion called Ram, it might just be my warped humour but that was funny to begin with.

The blurb pretty much says it all. Ram and Wiley are BFF’s on the same baseball team in a shifter baseball league and enjoy nothing more than to ogle one of their fellow players. When Wiley needs to head home to his pack for some sort of Founders Day weekend party where everyone just seems to be a rush of hormones, he wants Ram to come along as his pretend boyfriend.

All sorts of shenanigans ensue, namely from Wiley’s whacky 800 year old grandmother, who definitely gives the pack a bit of life. Eventually, though, they can’t pretend for too much longer.

The chemistry between the guys was great. So was the camaraderie, the fact that they were friends really helped me to be able to suspend my disbelief for a while. There were a number of interesting things also crop up. I really enjoyed the parts of the story that covered pack life for Wiley’s pack. There was the perpetually horny grandmother who was a bit of fun.

Additionally, I found it interesting that Ram was often teased for being a lazy lion – unlike other shifter stories Ram definitely resembled his wild animal counterpart. My only criticism is that although the baseball team did featured particularly in the beginning and end of the book, it was more like a list of names and would have liked to have known more about the team and league they played in.

I’m a bit of a sucker for friends to lovers type stories – actually I’m a sucker for everything I listed in the first paragraph of this review, so it’s not difficult to assume that I loved this. However, this isn’t the type of book that you should take seriously and read into it, just read it and enjoy it for what is presented.

But I loved it and I think this would appeal to many others.

Review: Each book in the Darkfall Mountain Pack collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Jordie is forced to come home when he couldn’t find a job. Now he is basically being babysat by a pushy wolf shifter who is also his brother’s best friend. He has always wanted him but he didn’t know if he could stop with just one time. What he doesn’t know is he is Matt’s mate. Matt has kept his distance from his mate for too long and now it is time to fix that.

I enjoyed this more than the first six books. I think it was more feisty then the others. I got a kick out of Jordie though. It has a touch of a serious tone to it but damn does it have some funny parts in it. It gave me almost everything I could want but I wanted more.

I had fun reading this and look forward to reading the next story.

Review: Each book in the Blood Moon Pack Alliance Series collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

For me once I start reading I can’t move until I find out how they end. These characters are also very fascinating and unique to me. To top it off it aren’t just two sexy men but three in this mating.

Asher’s life is about to get more complicated. He goes to talk to the coven and ends up bringing home Jake to live with shifters. On the way he finds this vampire that not only captures his attention but he senses danger there also. Kimi is a traitor to the coven and to the pack, or that is what everyone assumes.

Kimi runs and Asher goes to find him. Taking with him his newly adopted teenage son. To his surprise he finds a human and saves his ass from kidnappers, only to find out that the man is his mate. Then to make matters even crazier it would seem Kimi is their mate also. Kimi has a major secret that could get them all killed but his mates are determined to help him in all ways.

Now I must admit that I wasn’t too sure about Kimi. He had a darkness to him that made him seem even guiltier then normal added to the fact that he even made Jake weary and I thought for sure he was evil. Then once you get to know him, you can see that he is the perfect mate for the others. I wasn’t really sure about this story because of the dark tone, but that only lasted a total of five seconds.

I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Review: E-book review from December 2012…

Openly gay assassin Mateo Esposito has the perfect life. He kills people for a living and doesn’t even think twice as he pulls the trigger. His targets are murderers, rapists and pedophiles; so the fact that he doesn’t lose any sleep over them is no surprise. Until he stumbles upon Riley Flynn.

Riley Flynn is the CEO of Flynn Electronics. Not so openly gay, Riley stays safely behind the doors of his closet. After his mother died when he was a teenager, Riley was raised by his homophobic father. Riley is also Mateo’s next target.

Character development was precise as we watch Mateo go from predator to protector. The relationship that develops between the pair is amazing, even as they fight it, and then give in to it, only to come across yet another road block. Gasq-Dion definitely laid the ground work for many more books and promising storylines with the side characters as well. My personal favorite would be General “fuck it” Derek and Pruitt, I do so hope they get much more page time in the coming books.

This is an M/M erotic love story that is sensual and steamy! It is also fast paced and action packed with several twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Audio book review April 2016…

It’s always a joy when a favorite narrator breathes life into one of your favorite books. Boudreaux truly brings Mateo and Riley to life with tone, inflection and sometimes not so subtle nuances. I especially liked the desperation I could hear in his voice during a more dramatic part in the story.

I’ve probably read this book a dozen times or more so I knew full well how these two met, fell in love, were torn apart and the dangerous road travelled to bring them back together. Listening to the events unfold gave me a new insight into the story. You can read a book and imagine how something sounds or feels, Boudreaux was able to bring those sounds and feelings out for the characters with the voices he gave them.

I highly recommend this series to anyone that reads the genre. Whether you like shifters, paranormal, romance, passion, angst, you can find just about anything in this series. And now we have the promise of hearing the escapades and sexcapades of this Motley crew of men that make up the Skull Blasters and Shifters.

Very exciting!

Review: Danny and Quinn were lovers when they were teenagers, then Quinn left town. Danny was in an accident where several local teens died. He was the only survivor, and he had been drunk and high. After a long stint in the hospital and rehab, he went to college and became a teacher. Danny lives a solitary life; his only friends are a couple of teachers that speak to him at work.

Quinn returns as sheriff and rents a house on the outskirts of town, and it turns out that his first love, Danny is his neighbor. Danny and Quinn hit it off well, rebuilding what they lost.

Quinn has a secret of why he really is in town. One that could put him and Danny in Danger.

I love B.A. Tortuga’s style of writing. The short, clipped sentences usually add punch to the characters. However, in this story, I think there were some sentences that this style made the thoughts a bit confusing, and I had to read the paragraph a few times to catch on. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Both Danny and Quinn’s past were brought up a lot but not in detail. We knew they had one but not how they met or even why Quinn left suddenly.  I would have loved more of this back story and a bit more of the mystery that Quinn was working on than some of the sex scenes. Don’ get me wrong…the sex was scorching, but there was way too much in my opinion.

Now having said that…I did like the story. I liked both Quinn and Danny. There were scenes to die for. I adored the Thanksgiving scene.  It was only one of the scene that made the story so realistic and brought Quinn and Danny to life. I also felt so sorry for Danny a few times as well. Just the relationship between Danny and Quinn makes this boo worth reading. Oh, I almost forgot Rags. You have to love a dog in a story, and Rags is a fun addition!

If you are looking for a story with a sexy sheriff, a hot schoolteacher, a cuddly dog, a bit of mystery, second chances, some angst and lots and lots of scorching hot man-sex, this is for you!

Review: This book is a real slow burn. You also better get your tissues ready, too, if you’re picking up this poignant and emotive read. This is the first book that I’ve read by author Ashavan Doyon and I would definitely love to read more. The writing style is both chock-a-block full of emotion but the words just flow so easy I could not read this fast enough!

The story is about Gerald Tanner, who is an artist. His husband died of cancer just the year before. But now he is attempting to move on, just as Adam wanted him to. Not sure how Gerry decided that going on a cruise ship that he has frequented for years, with his husband, would be the way to go. But it was all perfect timing because on the cruise he meets Leo Ystrabov (and who doesn’t love a sexy Russian?!).

The story is about moving on, obviously, but it done beautifully. Gerry isn’t in a rush to move on. In fact he is struggling letting his husband go though at the same time he is ready for something serious to happen with Leo. Much of the first half/ two-thirds of the book is about Gerry trying to move on.  Things actually move along at a fairly slow pace here before we start the race to the finish line.

The second half we see Leo and Gerry get closer together as Gerry comes to terms with his life, which is when we get to know more about Leo – which I absolutely loved. I know introducing this part of the story earlier would have taken away from Gerry’s part of the story, but part of me wanted to know more about Leo and the heartache he had to endure.

That leads me to two parts of the story that popped up at seemingly random times. Firstly, there is another part of Leo’s story, it’s actually the little tit-bit of information that is suddenly such a big part of his life and kicks off the rest of his story – it literally came out of nowhere somewhere in the second third of the story.

It really bugged me at the time when I read it, though I eventually forgot as I continued reading. The other thing is actually quite minor in the whole scheme of things – we find out that Gerry is African-American – the thing that annoyed me is that all of a sudden in the last third race suddenly mattered.

Despite my issues this is a really lovely book to read. If you’re looking for something a bit different to read and want to read something about someone moving on from grief, then this is a great book I recommend in a heartbeat. It is both joy and hope, and despair and grief. I cried like a baby more than once, the words play with more than your heartstrings.
