Lime and Tangerine

Kevin Caucher

The post-apocalyptic world has changed. Colors have changed.

The skies are now red, and the seas fandango pink.

There are those who’ve acquired skills as “squinters”. By narrowing their eyes, they can see people in different colors—colors by which they can define their mood.

Senlin was born a squinter. A child of the foster system, the lack of love  has left him with casual views on sex.

When Sicong recruits him into SQX, a squinter organization, Senlin wants nothing more than to jump his bones, but Sicong’s detachment makes Senlin believe his feelings aren’t reciprocated.

Senlin and Sicong’s relationship begins to grow as they undertake missions together.

That is, until an enemy of SQX turns his attention upon them.

Review: Jeremy is living on the streets since he aged out of the system but is still in school.  He is determined to finish school, get a scholarship, go to college and do something with his life. There is one thing holding him back—his ex-boyfriend. Trent is determined to recruit him for his boss. Some days the hunger and cold gets to him but not enough to give up his dreams or his body.

Noah knows what it’s like living on the streets, even being a prostitute. He was saved once and now he runs a bar that barely gets by and a struggling laundry mat attached to it. He has his eye on a young man who comes into the laundry mat on occasion, but not for sexual reasons. He knows he is too young, but he reminds him of someone from his past…the one man he longed to save and couldn’t…the one that is trying to recruit Jeremy into his stables. So Noah makes a deal with the devil to keep Jeremy safe, but who will keep Noah’s heart safe from Jeremy?

This was such a beautiful story. Once you start you don’t want to put it down. I fell in love with poor Jeremy as soon as I met him. His strength and willpower are formidable and he is an inspirational character. He is young, smart and knows what he wants.

I also think That Noah was inspirational as well. I admired his resolve in trying to resist Jeremey’s advances until he was sure what they both felt was more than lust, pity or gratitude.

There is plenty of action as well.

SO, if you like inspirational characters, a great story-line, action, some twists and turns and a very satisfying ending you will love this book!

Review: This is book four of the Roughstock series. You do not have to read them in order but you do understand some of the things they talk about better and who some of the other characters are if you do. I do suggest you read them in order though. They are really good so why not?

I loved Coke from the first book and was so happy to get his story. Coke is my kind of man. Tender and loving and he deserves a happy ever after. The stars of the Show–oops– I mean book were equally Coke and Dillon. I mean a sexy, rough bullfighter and an adorable and funny rodeo clown. How could it get better?

I loved the conversation and dialogue between Coke and Dillon. It is short and clipped and to me it really made the impact. I also like how there was short repetitive words or short sentences in internal dialect that also added some punch.

The chase was hot, the sex even hotter. I think it got a bit too hot. For me anyhow. Once they got together it seemed for quite a while the story became all about the sex.  I would have liked a little more of the drama near the end and a few pages less of the sex. (Just my opinion).

We also got another peek at Jason and Bax (I won’t say more here just in case you haven’t read the first. But for those that have. Don’t give up on them yet! Jase is still determined.

There were many other cowboys mentioned like the Taggard triplets (I really would l love to see Adam’s story) also Packard or Beau and Sam… yeah so many stories I would like!

If you like rough and tumble cowboys, bullfighters, rodeo clowns, sweet romance, and some hot and raunchy man-sex (hey they are cowboys! and there are tender moments as well!) You will love this one!

Review: Two men who come together after a catastrophic rainstorm find a love they never dreamed of. Callum was a NYC stockbroker whose parents died in the world trade center attack. Since then he has kept to himself. Finding Angelo, a filmmaker unconscious in his barn after a vicious rainstorm with no way to get help.

He takes the man home and nurses him back to health. While healing Angelo and Callum get to know one another and discover that even though both are straight they have an undeniable bond to each other.

I felt bad for Callum’s loss and Angelo’s need to get away from the film industry. It seemed these two men needed each other in order to go on a different path that is much happier than the one they are currently on.

Well written this book draws you in and doesn’t let go until the very end.

Great read.

Review: This story was a rollercoaster of emotions. John is desperately trying to live his life while at the same time letting go of his past which is a hard thing to do at times with a mother that constantly preaches at you. Benji was not what I expected. He was certainly what John needed to help him get past his hang ups.

I liked the overall story. At times I felt these two would not be able to overcome their struggles and just live. We all make mistakes and struggle from time to time. Best thing to do come to grips with the past and leave it in the past as you cannot change what’s already happened.

All in all it was a great read.
