Blurb: “It takes courage to surrender.”

His city under siege, his army decimated, Amir-el-Assad was bound by a promise to his dying father: surrender the city and wait for reinforcements to liberate Palmyra from its conquerors.

While Amir hides in the shadows and bides his time, William of Woodsworth fights a different kind of battle: he must choose between a forbidden love and his honour as a Crusader.

On the sidelines, two other men watch and wait: Geoffrey, the squire whose devotion to William is shattered by the arrival of the mysterious Zeena; and Manouh, the exotic bed slave whose hunger for pleasure hides a broken heart.

The war has ended, but the battle has just begun. The fate of the city will not be decided in the battlefield…but in the bedroom.

Review: This is specifically stated to be a yaoi novel, which is cool, though I am well aware many MM books can fall under this umbrella without being a Japanese story… and I’m not about to go into the intricacies about classifying stories as yaoi or not.

That aside, just the title, The Lion of Palmyra, indicates that this is set during one of the Crusades. Historically, it’s easy and fun to get into the idea of chivalry and English knights invading the Saracens. Even more fun, and sexy, is to get into what is more like a love square (or parabola sounds good) – there too many people involved to be a triangle! – between men from both sides of the fight.

Basically, there are four main characters, the Saracens Amir (prince) and Manouh (hot bed slave), then there are the knights William and Geoffrey. William and Geoffrey are not only cousins but they are lovers and seemingly very much in love with each other. I feel that I need a flow diagram to explain this one.

The story starts when Palmyra surrenders after a siege from the invading knights. William’s father is a prominent character at this point, who wants his son to “act like a real man” which is how we first start into the journey of this love parabola. As soon as the invaders take control, Palmyra must cohesively fall in under the command of their invaders under the direction of Amir, who is all about free loving.

There is forbidden love in an exotic setting during a time of deep religious belief where all matter of grand romance stories has been created from. Anyone who enjoys historical romances or like their knights in shining armour will enjoy this one.

Now, on the night of their wedding ceremony, Gavin was about to get a second chance.

The plans have been made, the grounds have been decorated, and the guests have been invited. Sebastian is prepared, so he thinks, to tie the knot and accept a new egg. Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
After all the heartache and pain Sebastian and Gavin had from the last book they deserve a happy ending. And this book definitely gives them that.

But it takes some work on both their sides to make it a happy ending. Sebastian is deeply scared mentally by what happened to him by his brother and former best friend. He is not completely healed and when he starts to carry another egg, that really shows through. He winds up risking himself and the eggs health, before he finally admits what’s truly wrong to Gavin.

I liked how Gavin come up with a game plan involving Sebastian and his medical doctors to help him through it. Once he learned the truth, he understood completely and found ways to help Sebastian and try to elevate his fears.

Damn these two are super-hot together. Really steamy in the sack, against a wall, or wherever. There was no real BDSM themes in this book. Just some minor bondage and kinky toys.

This was a nice read. A little heavy on the angst. But when you think about it Sebastian has really been through a hell of a lot and kind of earned a little freak out time. Gavin was his normal awesome caring loving mate self. He saw to Sebastian’s needs anyway he could.

Good addition to the first book in the series.

Review: I love Jay and Kyle. They are just perfect for each other. They have been best friends since childhood. Jay was even accepted into Kyle’s family. Until the day Jay finally pulled away completely thinking to protect Kyle and his parents from the horrors of his home life.

But neither man forgot each other. And on the day Jay needs him the most Kyle rescues Jay and takes him back home, forever. Well after Kyle explains everything to Jay. I must say Jay’s minds works in the best ways. His reactions to learning about shifters and mating is funny as hell.

Jay is just a cute, sassy, and sweet bundle. Kyle is strong, loyal, and damn sweet too. Jay let his stepfather ruin his personal view and worth, but Kyle helps him get it back. To Kyle, Jay is nothing less than perfect for him. To Jay, Kyle has been what he has always wanted and loved.

It may be short, but it gives the series a good base to start from. It brings the two main characters together and explains their backgrounds. It gives the reader a good feel for the type of men they are. But it also lets the reader know there is more to come and that Jay and Kyle are still growing into who they will be.

Great little read to open the series with.

Review: This is part of a series. This book picks up where Caught in the Act left off, so I suggest you read them in order.

Warning: Tissues will be needed.

In the first book, I really didn’t like Ben. In this book, I came to hate him. I understood they were kids, but both Adam and Ben are living in men’s roles, especially Ben.

Since Ben has been helping his mom run the farm, I expected him to be the more grown-up of the two. Instead, the spoiled city boy was more of a man than him.

I really felt sorry for Adam after the betrayal and though I should have seen it coming especially since it is in the blurb I didn’t see the attack being so bad until it happened.

This is a very good story. There is a lot of angst and heartache. I loved Adam being so strong and fighting for what he wanted. I will say it pushed my limits on believability with Adam practically fending for himself though his dad is in the picture he is usually in the city, hours away.

The crime on Adam was very fierce and being a hate crime you would have thought more would have been done… but it is fiction and it did serve its purpose well in the story. It brought Ben back to his senses.

Caught in the middle is a beautiful story of love, heartache, and growth.

If you like young adult stories, angst, drama and, young love this is for you.

Blurb: Every promise must someday be fulfilled, and the best way Owen knows how to reward Cary’s faith is with a vow.
It’s been nearly five years since Owen went down on one knee with his Academy ring and promised Cary he’d someday do it for real. With Cary being a naval aviator and Owen a Marine officer serving in Iraq, they’re rarely on the same continent, let alone together.

About time for them to fill out paperwork to re-up, Owen realizes that if they were married, they’d have a much better chance of being stationed nearby. But time is not on their side, so he’s forced to compromise on his proposal in order to make it work.

Cary has been waiting for Owen for years—there was no chance he’d ever say anything but yes. Owen is coming home at last, and wants to make a home with him. However, between the chronic nightmares he’s been fighting and the ever more complicated wedding plans, the next month could be anything but a dream.

Review: This story has been previously released as part of the Semper Fidelis anthology. I don’t usually care for short stories because it just gives you a taste and leaves you wanting more. However this one doesn’t really do that.

You learn about Cary and Owen in the first book so you really should start with that one.

Owen and Cary are both military men and are not usually stationed together. Cary can see himself spending the rest of his life with Owen. So when Owen pops the question, Cary can’t wait for it to happen. Now if only the nightmares Cary has will stop.
I had a blast reading this and look forward to hearing more about their lives together. It was a perfect love story for two gorgeous men in uniforms.

I would definitely recommend reading this. It will give you almost everything you could want in a love story.

Review: This is one of those stories that hit you close to home. Especially if you have had a love one who served in the military. We always hope that they come home safe but for those who do not we pray for the pain they feel. Not only do they come home physically hurt but emotionally and mentally. They have to go through PTSD and sometimes it comes close to suicide or homicide. The pain they feel you feel.

Wade was a sergeant in the military and he came home with a damaged leg. He also suffered from PTSD, nightmares, pain and anger, also fear. He had an appointment with a doctor and you can tell right off the bat that he is angry at everyone. A gentle doctor came out to check on him and did more for him then anyone else could. He took the time to show him that he was worth it all. Jesse was amazed by the gorgeous man in front of him, and knew he was falling in love with his new patient.

I had a blast reading this story and would definitely recommend it to everyone. You might beware that at some parts of it might have you in tears. It is a great story but I do wish it had been longer. However for as short as it was, it gave you what you needed.

Review: This is book six in the Storming Love Flood Collection. These books do not have to be read in any order.

Sam is set up to go on a hiking trip with his first lover. A man he slept with once then never heard from again. When Patric came back to town from the services, he looked at Sam as if he didn’t even know him. Needless to say he wasn’t looking forward to the trip, but his mom and sister had purchased it and were insistent he took it.

This is a good story. The underlying romance was the main focus of this story and I would have really liked to have seen more of the flood. It was barely a mention here. There was no real drama or danger. But having said that the story is a sweet romance with some hot mansex.

If you like natural disasters, hiking, past loves and some romance this is for you!

Review: This is an interesting type of mystical story, which is book 2 in a series. Admittedly, I have not read book 1 but I had no problems understanding what was happening here. Although, I will say that it would probably be best to have some prior knowledge when you get to the epilogue of this book or else you will be like me, a tad bit confused but able to put the pieces together eventually.

This seems reminiscent of Sara Douglass’s Troy Games series, although the characters do not die and reincarnate. We follow two main characters, Aurelia the witch and Hame the oracle through three different periods of time – 1300s, 1700s and present day.
I’m not really sure what to say about this one. The characters are all interesting and engaging, the storyline is easy to follow. But for some reason this one just did not grab my attention.

I’m trying to find reasons and although I often enjoy books lacking romance, I might rate it as a bit of a factor because the main characters aren’t actually a couple but two people who end up being friends and fighting evil – one of them, Aurelia, obviously being the female while we do get a look into Hame’s love life with his boyfriend/partner/whatever you want to call it.

Anyone who likes a sweeping saga will probably like this one. It’s a rather condensed saga with a lot going on within the pages, so you need to make sure you pay attention.

Blurb: Stealing a unicorn, the most potent source of magic in the world, was not part of Dante’s plan. But neither was falling in love.
As a poor farmer, Dante can’t afford the cures that would bring his brother back from the death-like sleep that has claimed him, but when his sister finds a healer in town, one who promises to help, his family is overjoyed. Naturally cautious, Dante hopes they don’t put too much faith in a stranger, but he is unwilling to turn his back on the chance for his brother to be well again either.

The healer requires very little from them, a family heirloom and as much nightshade as Dante can carry. Though he questions why a healer would need such a poisonous plant, he is far more concerned with saving his brother. When he brings them to the healer’s home, he finds a black unicorn that has been enslaved by the healer.

Aleon is distrustful of people, and with good reason. As the dark mage’s captive, he has endured only torture and pain since he was a child. The mage uses shavings of his horn to heal others, and it is a brutal experience for Aleon. When Dante offers him a way of escape, Aleon is wary, but trusting someone new, or staying a slave until he is killed, isn’t a choice he can afford to let slip away.
With Dante, Aleon begins to understand that he is safe, and possibly even loved, but when the dark mage realizes his unicorn has been stolen, their lives are ripped apart in his rage to get Aleon back.

Staying together, and keeping his family safe, is all Dante wants, but it might be a hopeless dream when a world of magic and darkness rises up against him and he’s forced to make a choice between the man he loves and the family he wants to save.

Review: A magical world of fantasy, magic, deceit and love. I did not like Sethos, a magic user, from the start. He struck me as arrogant, cruel, and sinister and someone who only cared about what he wanted. The way he treated Aleon, the unicorn shifter, when he was a child turned my stomach. I can see why no one liked him. Especially when he takes Aleon for his own gain and keeps him as a slave.

It broke my heart at the way Aleon had been treated until Dante came along. I was very happy that Dante helped him get away from Sethos even though it put them in danger. Dante has a lot going on and sometimes I wondered if he was making the right decisions in some of his dealings. I loved the chemistry between Dante and Aleon once Dante gained his trust.

This book was full of a man intent on finding someone to help his brother, someone out for his own gain no matter the cost and two people stuck in dangerous situations because of someone who in my opinion was evil. Though it was an o.k. read it was a little disturbing as I don’t care for stories where they hurt a child in any way shape or form. So this story kind of turned me against it from the beginning.

It was an o.k. read.

Review: This is the sequel to Eldridge’s Release in the Club Rebellion series. Best friends Deacon and Shane, both Doms and co-owners of Club Rebellion have stuck with each other through everything.

Their relationship begins to change slowly. I loved the chemistry between these two sexy men. I really felt the love these men had for each other throughout. The sex was hot, passionate and intense at times.

Good read.

Review: Each book in the Mending the Rift collection features Rin and Merin. You get to see when they get together and how they continue to grow. You have to read book one first because if you don’t then you can get confused. Now this story is an amazing one but they have a way with them that can actually have you feeling the opposite of what was intended.

Rin and Merin are so deeply in love but a war is in the way. Rin has had the babies and even though they are happy the war has made things so difficult. The Riki are a desert type of people who are running out of water. They don’t trust anyone, so all they do is continue the war. They have brought the war to close to the tent that holds Rin and the children. It is time to go home. Merin misses his mate, but he has to find a way to get it over with. Then he is injured and Rin loses it. His control of his magic is threatened, but damn the man was made to rule.

I must admit that this is not one of my favorite series but they are inching their way there. I love Rin and Merin. Rin is just more out there than anyone I have seen. He is feisty and has an attitude that should never change. He keeps Merin on his toes that is for sure.

It took me a while to get into Valentina’s stories, but I can tell you that she has an amazing gift at giving you a world that you can lose yourself into. I have never been a fan of fantasies but this is one of my favorites in that. There is a lot of danger and action written in these stories that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

I look forward to reading more by Valentina. They are not very big books but they have a lot of meat in them. The characters are well written with a lot of feelings and they seem to mix well with the others.

I had a blast reading them and would recommend reading them. What is better than sexy men, adorable children, hot sex, danger, excitement, suspense and action?
