Review: This is my favorite story in this series because….well Gunny and Mac, that says it all, nothing to add. They’re hot and sexy as sin. They’re an established couple and retired marines.

This book starts with some sexy lovin’ but immediately changes into a surprising and hilarious visit from Mac’s parents (there might have been a stubborn vibrating dildo that refused to be turned off). I loved Mac’s mother and the easy acceptance she shows Gunny and Mac.

As a present for their honeymoon, Mac turns Gunny’s fantasy into a reality when he takes him for a visit to Guards of Folsom. Gunny likes to submit when he needs to clear his head and the visit is a huge turn on for both of them. We also get to catch up with the cast from the previous books and I enjoyed seeing the subs being their normal bratty selves.

Mac and Gunny are both alpha men, strong and courageous, dedicated and passionate. I LOVED how they couldn’t get enough of each other even though they’ve been together for 20+ years. They are the best example that gay men can love hard, fight hard, can definitely serve in the military, and are dependable people.

Let’s not forget the bit where they show that they can definitely fuck even harder because that was sexy as hell. They’re also not afraid to show their affection for one another and cuddle at every given opportunity.

I didn’t want this book to end because you know…Gunny & Mac. They’re the real deal and I want more. Definitely recommended, don’t lose the opportunity to get to know some seriously awesome men.

Cabin for Two: An Anthology

Blurb: Snow, storm, transportation woes, gravity well mishaps – the list of disasters that might strand someone in the wilderness is endless. But what happens when two men are marooned together? Close quarters and intimate situations strike sparks, whether the men are strangers or lovers on the emotional rocks.

A Bear in the Woods: Smokey Mountain Bears 1 by Toni Griffin ♥♥♥♥4Hearts
A bear shifter tries to convince his mate that he’s not crazy while fighting threats against his own life.

I was looking forward to this. I really enjoy Tony Griffin’s other series The Holland Brothers and Atherton Pack. If anything, this book was just too short and that was because I missed the details that I crave and normally get from her writing. But in saying that I’m really behind since I’ve only just got to this one. This anthology originally published a couple of years ago and it is the first book in a series. The second book was released a few months ago for Christmas (Wreath of Fire in the Chestnuts Roasting Anthology, Dec 2014) – another book that I need to get to.

Regardless, this is an enjoyable story. An unsuspecting human and a hot bear shifter, what more could you want? Vincent, the human of the piece, has been forced to take a holiday by his best friend. And for some odd reason she has booked him a cabin in the woods. Christian, our bear, has a lot of background drama going on to do with his pack/sleuth of bears. He’s next in line for alpha and a couple of pack members take an exception to this. When Vincent arrives at the cabin, his first glimpse of Christian is in his bear form and we pick up on a quick adventure from there.

As I said, not really detail heavy although it has a good and simple plot. There seems like there is more to this story and since it’s only book 1, I’m going to put my faith in Toni Griffin for the rest.

Dirty Little Secret by Freddy MacKay ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts
A geocaching trip goes horribly wrong, but the hiker’s rescuer is the one person who may be able to save him in more ways than he can imagine.

I think this is the first time I’ve read something by Freddy MacKay and I have to say it is pretty enjoyable.

Three Little Words by Mathilde Watson ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts
Lifelong friends have returned from the Korean conflict and now need to fight their way through the feelings they’ve harbored for each other for so long.

This is the first time I’ve read anything written by Mathilde Watson. I have to say there are two things that drew me into this instantly 1) I love Korea as a county and the mere mention of it makes me want to go back, and, 2) I’m a tragic for watching re-runs of MASH and it seems I’ve been watching reruns my whole life.

All that aside, this is a sweet story. It’s about two best friends that are confused about their sexuality trying to get their lives back on track after being irrevocably altered from their time in the army. One thing that isn’t actually mentioned specifically but I would say has impact on the story is how homosexuality was viewed historically. This is more fun and exploration than the serious side of sexuality.

Their Natural Habitat: The Forestry Series, Book 2 by Silvia Violet ♥♥♥♥3.5Hearts
A forest ranger and his lover just want a nice weekend away. The bear baiters have other ideas.

I have to admit, I didn’t quite enjoy this story as much as the preceding stories in the Cabin for Two anthology. But I think I figured it out: this is a standalone sequel to book 1 in the Forestry Series but to enjoy it properly I probably need to read book 1.

As I said, this is a sequel, so we follow on with characters that readers would have met if they didn’t do my trick and go straight to this anthology without realising. Dan and Parker are together but one is a city boy and the other is a country boy – who also works as a park ranger. These guys are still trying to iron out the dynamics and logistics of their relationship and even on its own is an enjoyable read.

A Matter of Faces (An ESTO Universe Story) by Angel Martinez ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts
A data privateer crash lands on a barely habitable moon where he’s found by a research scientist who refuses to show his face.

By far this was the most enjoyable book for me from the Cabin for Two anthology. It’s not so much sweet, but it is fun. It’s a bit like Cold War Spy crossed with Arctic scientist in my mind.

The MCs are Rhodi (Rhodolite) and Gel (Magellan): Gel is a scientist tucked away on an isolated planet studying/observing weather systems. Rhodi is the data privateer mention in the blurb, he crash lands and crawls into the wrong plant, so when Gel finds him, Gel becomes his nurse and medical doctor briefly. It’s not really an adventure, they are stuck within an observation cabin throughout, but it’s a pretty cool way for a scientists and what is essentially a spy come together.

Just on a random side note, it pissed me off how Gel reacted at the end but I’m glad he saw sense. It’s just in Rhodi’s shoes. I would have been a little less willing to accept an apology. On the names, I can’t keep this to myself: Rhodolite is a type of rock/crystal, but since I don’t know rocks that well (had to look it up), I keep thinking of Rhodophytes (red algae, more my area). As for Magellan (as well as being aptly named), if you remember the kids’ 90s cartoon The Animaniacs, I keep on thinking a song they sing about the explorer Magellan.

Review: Each book in the Peyton City collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. There is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men involved. I love the way this author can put together a book that not only fascinates you but also draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by E. A. Reynolds.

There is something about the way that E. A. tells a story that will not only draw you in and keep your attention the whole time, but it will more than likely have you laughing your ass off. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their mates with their entire lives. I had a blast reading this story. I only had one problem with this story is that it is a bit confusing trying to figure out who is against the white panthers and who is not.

Jordan has known that Jamar is his mate, but that Jamar is interested in another. He wanted his mate, but knew that a mating would not be true if the other is interested in another man. He was going to bide his time and eventually he would get Jamar. There were many that wanted the white panthers to be killed off. The white panthers are the ones that will keep the blacks panthers going. They are loyal, can keep their mates by their side, and give them the children they needed. He just worried that Jamar wouldn’t want any of it.

Jamar had wanted another, that is until Mendes took a liking to Jamie. Jamar was a white panther, and if he didn’t take a mate, his grandfather would make him. He didn’t want that, but he wasn’t really sure what he wanted. Then Jordan starts coming on to him and he is a bit lost. Jordan is into the BDSM scene heavily, but he fears that Jordan just wants to play. That is until he realizes that they are mates.

Then the fun begins.

I loved this book but I am not sure about the way Jordan is with Jamar. I mean to me it feels like he is pushing the spanking. I don’t understand some of that. It just seems too harsh to be true. There are just a few words that appear at the wrong time, but other than that, my attention never wavered from the story. It had caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it there all the way to the end.

They do have a bit of a serious tone to them but there is a touch of humor in them that I love. It gave me everything I could want in a book.

I would definitely recommend reading this book. What is better than gorgeous men, sexy little mates, male pregnancy, excitement, some hot and kinky sex, a little bit of twists and lots of danger?

Blurb: Dresden Marich has failed out of high school three months shy of graduation. He’s infatuated with his online friend, Evan, alienated from his family and former classmates, and still trying to recover from his father’s death six years ago. He’s also keeping a troubling secret about his older brother, Gunner, who is away at boot camp.

Then Dresden meets Caleb, a judgmental environmentalist who’s hardly Dresden’s fantasy come true. But Caleb seems to understand Dresden’s desire for rough sex, big feelings, and, ultimately, safety. As Dresden becomes embroiled in a farmers market drama involving Caleb, a couple of bullying tomato enthusiasts, and a gang of vigilante vegans, he discovers he might be willing to trade a fantasy relationship with Evan for a shot at something real with Caleb.

But Dresden fears telling quick-to-judge Caleb his secret, and the news that Gunner is coming home sends him fleeing to California for a chance to meet Evan in person and hopefully fall in love. When the encounter doesn’t go as expected, Dresden faces a choice: stay in California and carve out a new life, or take the long road home to his family, Caleb, and a past he must face if he has any hope for a future.

Review: Wow this book was depressing! I mean seriously full of angst, it left me feeling unsettled and sad. I usually like Rock’s writing, all her books are well written and coherent; so is this one, but it didn’t quite work for me.

This is told in 1st person present and it’s one of my least favorite styles; however, I have to admit it worked in this book but I still would’ve preferred something different. This is the story of 18-year-old Dresden, a high school dropout, who is suffering from depression, has some metal issues that stem from his inability to deal with his father’s death and from the lack of professional help. His world is sad. His mind is an erratic place that left me feeling frustrated and sad.

I believe he just needed to know where his place in this world is, and I believe his mother’s shortcomings as a parent affected his ability to understand and like who he is. Rather than a romance, this is more a coming of age story, a story about a teenager learning who he really is, making mistakes and learning from them, learning to appreciate the people who matter most and finding his own purpose in life.
Caleb is a 24-year-old (young) man who befriends Dresden;

I’m not sure how I feel about Caleb. He goes from a nurturing and caring person, who seems to understand that Dresden has some problems with self-esteem, to someone who engages in heavy kink in a blink of an eye. Don’t get me wrong, I love kink in my books, but here it felt….wrong.

They didn’t take the time to know each other and figure out where this need for kink is coming from, which was absolutely necessary considering that Dresden needs it because of his inability to otherwise express any emotional feelings. The kid’s got issues and it was plain to see; and introducing autoerotic asphyxiation so fast into their sex life, when none of them had any experience with it seemed irresponsible.

Also, there was no chemistry between them despite of the intensity of their sex life.

On the positive side, I have to admit the author did a fantastic job creating the perfect mindset for an 18-year-old boy; I never once doubted it was an insecure, immature, smart, troublesome teenager doing all the thinking and talking. And there were some humorous parts that helped me finish this story because without them, I would’ve given up on it half way through.

Some would say there’s a HFN ending but I’m not so sure I can see it that way. I mean I agree that Caleb and Dresden are together and things between them are better, Caleb made peace with his brother and with what happened between them years ago. But Dresden is far from being ok psychologically speaking. I still think he’s a work in progress that only just began.

I recommend this book but only to those who enjoy dark, depressing, angsty stories.

FIND’M is the newest geosocial networking app for gay men that’s turning heads and taking them off!

Review: Are you lonesome tonight? Never fear, the trusty dating app FIND’M is right there at your fingertips, promising a night of no strings attached fun with a handsome stranger. Beware though, the price for the anonymity that comes with the ease of hooking up with the online app could very well be your life.

This collection of dark stories will make you stop, think, and proceed with caution before using any type of dating app again! These twelve original and horrifying stories are equal parts intriguing and frightening while remaining cohesive to the overall feel of the dark side of the online dating world.

The writing was extremely descriptive from the killer in the park tearing into his unsuspectingly willing victim’s flesh, to the torn lover that lures men to his home to feed his lovers insatiable appetite.

While each part is super short, Graves did a great job of setting the stage appropriately for each story individually and then tying them all together with the common thread, the FIND’M dating app.

I caution reading any of these stories in the dark, or just before bed, or if you yourself use an online dating app. But I do recommend this book especially for fans of creepy, suspenseful, horror stories.

Review: I have always been more compelled to read a good paranormal romance. One knows that none of it is possible, but the way any are written, you feel like they are. You wish you were right there with them, fighting with them, loving with them and hoping with them. The only one that can make it comes across so defined and worthy of being read more than once is the author. To write with all of their feelings put in to it, makes the story more juicy and enjoyable. Sunny has done this with most of her writings.

Marshall is the pack enforcer and knows what needs to be done when a pack mate is injured and another kidnapped by another pack. He knows that Kyle is the next intended alpha for his pack, but that there is also another who could do it. He must go and talk to Nick about taking the job and catching Kyle. The problem he finds is that Nick and Kyle are brothers. It will take a strong man to turn over his own brother for a death sentence. Marshall also finds out, after he broke in to Nicks home is that Nick is his mate.

Nick is having a hard time all around. He knows that Marshall is his mate, that Kyle needs to pay for his crimes and that he needs to tell his father that he is going to take the alpha position even if it means fighting. However even though he is an alpha and strong, he seems that he is also scared of it all. He wants his mate, is drawn to him, and wants to be with him, but there is something in him that slows him down with the choice.

He also knows that he will make a good alpha, but going to his father is something else. He needs to man up and take control of it all.

This is a damn good book and gave me everything I could want in a story. I had a blast reading it and would recommend it to everyone. I mean what is better than two gorgeous men, shape shifters, power struggles, insane relatives, danger, excitement, lots of action and some very hot sex. It gave me a world to lose myself into. I loved it and sure hope that this might turn into a series.

Review: This story was a bit different for me. It doesn’t mean that I didn’t like it but had trouble staying with it. It was really well written, but seemed to be not much friction to it. I want a bit more to it. Everything was tasteful and sweet, may be a little too much. It was missing something important to me, that would have made it perfect. I have to admit that it did catch my attention when I started reading it, but lacked something that would make it pop.

Nathan has been a teacher for quite some time, but his life was missing something important. He was attracted to one of his students and for a while, that was a hit. However until Isaac graduated, there was no way he would ever make a move. His life is a juggle it seems. He is a Jewish man working at a Catholic college, but is a very calm man.

It isn’t till Isaac comes into his life, that he learns to live.
Isaac has the hots for his teacher, which is usually par to many students. Although he has a secret that might be the end of their budding relationship. He was a prostitute and would always be reminded of it. Even if Nathan didn’t mean to, he did at some points in the relationship. Things needed to change a bit if they were to keep on moving forward.

Nathan realizes later on that he was a coward, thinking that Isaac could be taken from him. He had no faith in his lover and needed to see the error of his ways. He might be older, but he could still learn what was important. He knew that it had been the only way for Isaac to pay his school fees. In most life times, someone who has sold their body isn’t nearly understood and accepted as well as Isaac had been.

Oh, he had his customers coming on to him, but it seemed that the whole time it happened was when they were out. Nathan had a bit of trouble with it, but even his family didn’t have issues that their son’s lover was a prostitute. It is to clean, neat and tidy for me, may be too much of it.

It was a cute little story, but everything was too safe. I mean in prostitution it is a dirty way of life, yet the way it is written just comes off way to easy and safe. I want more passion put into the story, more excitement into it. I want a story that is going to make me feel what they are going to be feeling. It missed the heart, I mean you can tell the love between them, but it came off as if it was just a job.

It is well written in a style that just flows off the pages, but I didn’t feel the authors heart was put into it. I actually liked the story and could see myself reading it once more, but I would not be pushed to read it. It doesn’t call to me as many others would. I would recommend reading it though.

Review: An intense, emotional, powerful story about Terrance who can see and speak to the dead. Unlike the last book, this time is more sinister. He’s dealing with not only someone calling out for help but having to battle the demons trying to prevent him from finding the truth.

I really enjoyed the whole book even though it was dark. I felt horrified at what was being done to those children. The details of Terrance’s dreams and visions were intense and scary. I think Terrance is a very strong young man to do what he does especially having been through what he did when he was a child.

Very well written journey of a man who does what he has to do to save a son he never knew he had no matter the cost. Fantastic book in The Severing series.

Highly recommended.

Review: When Sam, an openly gay chaplain, is called out to a crime scene, he doesn’t treat the gender fluid gal that allegedly committed the crime any different from he would treat anyone else. He is kind, respectful and courteous, which catches the attention of Sandra’s best friend Frank.

It is several months later before they meet again, but Frank hasn’t stopped thinking about Sam since that night.
This time Frank is a shoulder for Sam to cry on after Sam loses a patient to a gunshot wound. The attraction that was evident from the start, comes full circle with this second chance meeting. But this time, Frank isn’t going to let Sam walk away.

This was just an okay read for me. While I enjoyed the chance meeting, Sam’s kindness, and the second chance at happiness all those months later, the story itself was super short and not quite as in-depth as I thought it needed to be for these particular characters. That being said, it was a light, fun read, and I would definitely read more from this author.

There is something about the way that Catherine tells a story that will not only draw you in and keep your attention the whole time, but it will more than likely have you laughing your ass off. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect the ones they love with all that they have. I had a blast reading this story.

Jeremy has been a single dad for three years, since his ex-wife had stated she didn’t want him and took off. He loved his son but some days Adam was a lot to handle. Which is how he ended up taking Jeremy with him to the store. Thank goodness for the sweet young man helping him. Although the man who was with Jaime was downright hot. Now isn’t that a surprise, he is not gay but damn this man turns him on.

Denver was only with the pride to help them with security, so when he met his mate, he tried to stay away. It wasn’t till Jeremy accidently started the mating process that Denver knew he had to get to know his mate. That and learn about children real fast, cause damn a three-year-old can move fast. When Jeremy’s ex shows up wanting her son, things are about to heat up real fast. It would seem his ex had a secret of her own. Denver knew he would do everything to keep his mate and new son safe.

I absolutely love this book almost as much as I have loved the others in this series. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Catherine puts out a book, I am usually there to eat them up. They do have a bit of a serious tone to them but there is a just a touch of humor in them that I love. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me everything I could want in a book.

I would definitely recommend reading this book. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, and loving.

Review: Each book in Lone Wolf Pack collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. There is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men involved.

The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their mates with their entire lives. I had a blast reading this story. The only real problem I have is that it is not long enough. I want a book that will keep my attention for hours on end. This story is perfect for when you are trying to take a break.

This turned out to be my favorite among all of Anya’s books. A wolf and a rabbit, what could be better and more poetic. Connor had been kicked out of his pack, after he killed one of the wolves from his pack. The man deserved to be killed is all I am going to say.

While on the run, he comes across his mate. Saves his little sexy ass from three humans. Talk about a surprise though, his little mate was a rabbit. Dani was kicked out because he was one male rabbit that could get pregnant. Now that was even a bigger surprise, but where they were headed might be perfect for these two.

I absolutely love this book almost as much as I have loved the others in this series. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Anya puts out a book, I am usually there to eat them up. Review: This was a cute little story but definitely not my kind. I can’t stand a good gay romance, that has them having sex with females. It is not what I want to read, so if it weren’t for the fact that it was a short story I would have stopped reading it. It would have been a good story had that part been left out and had it been expanded with more detail. It is a strange little paranormal story.

Ramon is a music gift. However, he thinks that he was getting his gift from Zuhal. He kept screaming for him to come back even though he was told that his gift came from his heart. He made a deal, without intent with a muse. The problem was the muse was wrong for doing it. Now it was up to Zuhal to fix it.

You can’t really tell too much about this story without giving it away. If I had been Zuhal, I would have kicked Ramon’s ass to the curb. He comes off as a selfish individual that needs to be smacked upside the head. If you like paranormal’s that have a twist, gorgeous men, and freaky ties then this would probably be for you.

Review: This was a cute little story but way to short for my liking. I mean, I have got to hear more about these two men. It was a blast to read and even though it might have been kind of serious, it was full of laughter. I mean I never laughed so hard in my life.

Jazz was just your ordinary kid going to college and working at a bakery. That is until he saw a dog sitting on his car. Not just any dog either, this one was the size of a car. Then it talked to him.

I never thought hellhounds would be a blast but this guy was. He came to eat the guy and ended up having just a bit more fun. It really is too short for one to tell another about the story in detail otherwise it would give the story away.

However, I would recommend reading this. It gives you a touch of danger, a funny situation, a cute little guy, hellhound, and some very hot sex. I had a blast and look forward to seeing what other books that Sam has out.

Blurb: By the King’s Command… Daimyo Akihiro Shimada didn’t have the hatred for humans that many of his kind did. It was a known fact that humans were weak. Every dragon knew that. When the king commands him to take a human as a mate, Akihiro is instantly smitten with Isei but fully aware that he must treat his mate with gentle care, even if his gut instincts say otherwise.

Isei Hironaka is a second son. He has no chance of ever being anything more than he is until he is forced to impersonate his brother at the King’s coronation ceremony. When the new king orders him to mate with a dragon, Isei is positive his ruse will be discovered. Mating to strengthen the bond between clan and clutch is one thing.

Staying mated is an all together different story, especially when those around Akihiro and Isei believe dragons and humans have no business falling in love and they will do everything within their power to keep them apart.

Review: I loved this book. However, I was seriously pissed at Akihiro for the way he treated his mate as if he was a simple-minded human that needed to out in a room away from harm and not allowed out. He shouldn’t have listened to others trying to tell him what was best for his mate he should have known himself. I was glad he finally came to senses before he lost Isei for good.

I felt so sorry for Isei and how he was treated by different people in his new home. He should have told his mate about the different ideas he had instead of thinking he wasn’t good enough to speak his mind. Loved all the details throughout.

Intense and heart wrenching this story grabs hold from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the very end. The battle scenes were short and fierce. Very glad things worked out well in the end. Fantastic read.

Highly recommended.

Review: This was a cute story that had a lesson in it. I had a blast reading it, although it went way too fast for my taste. I would have loved for a longer story with more about them from the very beginning to the end. However it didn’t change my opinion on the book.

Adrian and Brandon had been together for a while, that is until Brandon cheated on him. At first the normal reactions were there, then Adrian understood that part of what happened was on him also. He was a controlling jerk and needed to fix the way he treated others. If he wanted the man he truly loved back in his life, he had to fix what was wrong.

Although I didn’t agree with Brandon cheating on him, because to me there is no way in hell I would let him back, I could see part of why he did it. Although I would have just left Adrian and started over by myself and let Adrian work at fixing it. It was a cute story and I did enjoy reading it.

I would recommend reading it. It is like what would happen in normal life, so you kind of feel like you are right there with them through it all.
